This comes up a lot, so I am gonna address it.
Humor, jokes, all that, fine, no problem, I like to laugh, my sense of humor is a-ok.....BUT, making light of someone, by making absurd, ridiculous statements, isn't needed.
For some reason, this whole PS3 thing has made me a huge target here, and I don't appreciate it. I don't want this place to turn into OO, which is to say its someplace that no longer gets fun to come to, due to all the targeting and bullshit, but this whole PS3 thing, has at least recently, started to bring back some very bad memories, of a certain other forum that I no longer am a member at.

jblank, for what it's worth, none of my posts have been directed at you, or specifically singling out scalpers per se. I'm sorry if my posts contributed to your feeling of being under attack.
Do I support or agree with scalping? No. I personally find it unethical.
Am I going to rip into someone for doing it? No. Everyone has their own positions on the long greyscale line of ethics. And scalping video game systems, in the big picture of all the things we could be worrying about in this messed up world, really isn't that big a deal.
Don't sweat it, I never took any offense to anything you said. No problems between us and on the other issue there, we just agree to disagree, no big deal. |

I have no problem with someone 'scalping' a PS3. Heck, with the way the prices are inflated, it would be stupid not to.
I was reading about the Japan release, and people are paying US $100,000+ for them. Yes, insanity has arrived. If someone wants one that bad, take the profit and wait a few months to get one for yourself.
From what I see now, it seems like you can make $900 to $1000 scalping it. That's damn good money. For most people, that's more than a week's pay.

Let me look for the article, I think someone posted it at CAG. But it wasn't 100k yen, it was the equivalent of $100k USD. Dunno if it was BS or not, I have no way of verifying events occuring on the other side of the world. BTW, I just noticed something about the "SmashmyPS3". They are smasing the $500 version. Pffff... they may as well, it's not like anyone will buy one of those |

Jeez Hetz, you act like these people stole yours or something. Come on buddy, get off this train already.  You got yours and what people that sold them did with the ones they bought, is not a big deal. If they did good, why be all down on them? Why you guys wanna take happiness in people not getting 3, 4, 5 times what they paid for these is borderline obessive. Is that why I got more than twice what I paid for my PS3? I keep hearing the doom and gloom, and for some it happened, but you are trying REALLY hard to (once again) poo-poo people that sold their systems, and for most of us, we fared quite well. Show me a few other retail items where you can buy it then sell it, and more than double your price. Also, check the link, its over $1,000 now. |

Yes it's supply and demand, but if that's the case the stores themselves should just start charging $1000 for the system in the first place. Everyone would bitch if that happened. I would rather give my money to Best Buy than Joe Blow who lives with his mom and has time to wait outside of a store for days.

I wouldn't, unless they were a locally owned store, but I have no love for corporations.. Man, trust me, I respect that we don't agree, thats fine, but if its one thing I have gotten tired of reading in here, is people happy that people might not get $2K+ for their systems. Why take joy in other peoples (alleged) misery? I just shake my head at how angry this PS3 speculation craze has made people, like it affected them personally, and ruined their lives. This is when people need to step back and realize this is a hobby, not something earth shaking, or huge, in their daily lives. |

Look at the bid that jumped to $1000. 'playstation3_vendor'? And the next bid is 2 from a bidder with 1 feedback? The smart speculators are at least requiring a decent feedback number for a bid to even be considered . |
