How important is your Hard Drive capacity proven to be? The reason I ask is because if it is the same as the 360 then 40GB would be a safe way to go, right? Or is there more to it? as to why it is marketed the way it is. 20GB $379., 40GB $399., 80GB $499

1) I seriously have no clue how much space I have left. I never look at it, and don't even know where to look if I wanted to.
2) It's super easy (and inexpensive) to replace the PS3 HDD with any off the shelf notebook HDD. If it ever comes to the point where I need more space, I'll go and add more space.
So in short, do what Calvin said (unless you need wifi).

20 gigs is fine. I have a sixty and I have plenty of movies, music, pictures, videos, etc. on there. But 20 gigs would be acceptable. You're also able to install bigger harddrives if you want, so if you feel as though 20gigs or 40 is lacking, you can go bigger and better...

I have a launch unit 20 gig version. I don't worry about storage space because I installed a 160 gig HD in it. This install is extremely easy, the PS3 instruction manual tells you how to do it. Needless to say I haven't run out of space yet. I do DL a lot of the game trailers, I have several games installed, and I have about 5 demos installed. If you save that many things you will run out of space with the 20 gig version.
The best part is that the 20 gig version is $350, add in a 160 gig HD for about $100, and you suddenly have a lot of storage space for about the same cost as the 60 gig version.
The one thing to remember though is that the 20 gig version doesn't have all the memory card slots, it just has the USB slots (with which you can use a USB flash drive with) and it also doesn't have WiFi, but it does have a hard line LAN connection.
I don't regret buying the 20 gig version one bit.

All you need is some sort of portable drive to get any media files on to your PS3 hard drive. The system accepts any kind of USB flash drive, even USB hard drives.

I dont keep stuff on either hard drive. When I am done I delete demos, movies, etc. 20 GB works fine for me.

well i have only had my PS3 for about 3 months,i have the 60 gig...which really is 55gig,and i am currently at 40 gig,but i download anything and everything...i think the 40 gig left at the moment though is mainly because i have season 1 of californication on there, the final fantasy retrospectives(which reminds me part 12 or whatever should be out now)..and then various MGS 4 trailers, and heavenly sword cartoons etc...oh and warhark, calling all cars,tekken...carsh bandicoot and crash team racing and everybodys golf 2(hotshots 2)
so really,i could do with a bigger hard drive if this machine really is to last 10 years or whatever it is that they think their machine will last for..if thats what its like in the first 3 months
