There is already a site out there with pictures of the ps3 taken apart. I'm certain that if it had two lasers we would already know about it.

Yep, there is no HD-DVD anything in the PS3. It's already been taken apart.

I'm definitiely glad I'm waiting on the PS3.  At this point I may wait until Q4 2007 for them to work out the kinks and see how the launch systems holdup.  Size is also going to be a factor for me-  Sorry Sony, but you don't get to hog up my entertainment center without paying me rent.

Seriously- there won't be HD-DVD materials in there.  The HD-DVD forum would be crowing about their victory if that was the case (and you can't make an HD-DVD player without a license from them).  Further, there is no need for it.  Even if Bluray fails as a format, it will still work just fine as a gaming media even if PS3 games are the only things left coming out on Bluray by the end of the system.

Personally, if you want my opinion - if you have a PS3 reserved at a EB/Gamestop/anywhere else that's doing a midnight opening, do NOT get your console that night unless you're going with friends. You're just asking for it right now.

I'm really glad I'm not particularly interested in the PS3 or Wii.  Would be really frustrating right now.  The whole wait in line thing was fine once.

I'll probably get a PS3 down the road.  Maybe the Wii.  But not anytime soon.  (hopes he doesn't eat his words)

A search of eBay's site turned up no pre-requisiites for selling an in-hand PS3, so I am about 99.9% sure what Tebunker was talking about was a pre-sale only.

I understand there is potential for danger, but in Bristol, I think we're pretty safe. Besides, I would have been armed and I am not exactly shrimpy looking, so I wouldn't have been too spooked. :slywink:

Denog, thats for Japan, so it has no relevance for us. I'm sitting here in my office monitoring eBay's PS3 pre-orders and here are the prices for the 7 listings that end the quickest:

But I also noticed one winner with negative feedback for not paying recently, and some people who were way up there with 1, 0 or even -1 feedback.  Big reason my auctions always set to not accept bids from such users.

Same here my man, in fact, I will be cancelling the bids of anyone with less than 3 feedbacks, so as to not have to worry about NPB's. I'm doing a 1 day auction, at $1.00, and will ship free of charge, next day air. My wife bets we get $2,900.00, I say $2,300.00. I will be happy with either amount.

Me either. I waited until April on the 360 and probably will wait at least until this time next year for a PS3 to keep.

I think alot of those people bidding on the preorders could be speculating too.  It might be different when there are thousands of actual PS3s hitting ebay Friday though.  It seems that many Japanese speculators aren't getting what they expected. So it's not a slam dunk.

I think alot of those people bidding on the preorders could be speculating too.  It might be different when there are thousands of actual PS3s hitting ebay Friday though.  It seems that many Japanese speculators aren't getting what they expected. So it's not a slam dunk.

It's not a slam dunk, but the ball is falling through the bottom of the net, so it's as close as it could get. Also, when mom's and dad's can't find these for little Timmy tomorrow or Saturday, and they HAVE to turn to eBay, I think the bidding machine will really kick into high gear.

Well, regardless of what they are used for (gaming or selling), considering how many people are camping out for them and how many are being turned away, coupled with obvious shortages, I would say the demand will be on par with, or exceed, the 360 at launch.

Yeah...  I wouldn't spend any real amount of time waiting outside, but if I can grab one online it's about as risk free as you can get.  I'd wager that the chances of you not making money at all are about 0.

Ah, gotcha. I would say it's maybe 65/35, the 65 being people keeping it to play, but I will freely admit there is a ton of interest in selling this, more so than any other console. The kicker is, if there was adequate demand, and no money to be made, I would have no problem keeping mine.
