it's a ninja release apparently. Rather than being implemented via system update, the service is a clickable icon in the XMB's video section that prompts a 19MB download. Individual films and TV shows are available for rental and purchase individually at varying costs, though Amazon Prime members are given full access based on their annual subscription. Looks like we finally have to buy a media remote for the ol' PS3, eh?

Oh my god...I have to put on new pants.
Holee sheyite! I didn't even bother with the pants. I turned on the PS3, and the icon was already waiting for me!
Streaming Arrested Development. Smooth and sharp. Real test will be at 8 or so tonight.

Poking around with the interface now. First problem is that there's still no instant queue. Second is that it's arranged in long horizontally-scrolling bars like netflix. The huge problem with this is that when you go into the details of a title, then back out to the list you were looking at, it puts you back at the very beginning of the list. TV shows are set up as a vertical list of episodes separated by seasons via tabs at the top, except the only way to change seasons is to scroll back to the top to highlight the tabs.
Basically, browsing's kind of a pain. They do separate TV shows by network which is neat, and the scrolling is speedy. The app itself runs really well and is pretty slick, but the lack of a queue really hurts it compared to Netflix.

I was just about to post those two gripes myself.
I cannot fathom why there's no queue set up. There's even a spot for it on the Home screen under Video Library. But there's no way to put videos in that library (apart from buying them, I imagine, but I won't be doing that).
If you're sticking with one show, it's not too bad, since there's a Previously Watched section, but man, is that a major oversight.

odd timing that I just let my trial lapse and went with netflix instead. still, a good bonus to anyone with both.

Of course, after I finally break down and buy a Roku. Oh well, I'm sure the Roku uses less power.

I used to work at TiVo up until the middle of 2007. Went to Netflix when the Roku player was initially a Netflix developed device. We were spun out to Roku in early 2008.
