So i'm in the market for a used PS2 slim.  Another board i frequent, a reliable individual is selling a slim PS2 Model SCPH-75001 for $75 shipped.  Comes with power and av cords and 2 controllers.  Is this a good model and decent price?

I don't know much about the specific PS2 models, but I haven't heard of many problems with the Slim ones.  I would say that $75 is a really good price for the console and 2 controllers considering you know the seller is reliable.

Snap it up.  Unless you plan to mod it, that is a really good price.

You'll need a memory card.  I can't imagine your friend not giving you that with the bundle though.

75001 is the second to last model for the PS2, the newest one is 77000-something.
Like KD said though the slim ones are much more reliable. Haven't had any kind of problems with mine, though the fat ones I got disc read errors all the time.

If you dont get a memory card with the system ebay is the best bet for that as well. I got my last one for around $15 new. (Gamestop still sells them used for $20)
Sometimes stores like circuit city do a special in their sunday ads for $19.99 new.

Do you like wireless controllers?  If so, grab some of the Logitech ones for the PS2.  When I bought my slim PS2 earlier this year I didn't even bother with the wired controller.

You might want to get a second guitar controller so then you and your wife can get down and dirty. See who can shred the fastest.

Oh yeah. Makes the game much more entertaining (as both sides do NOT play the same notes all the time - you jam with each other in sorta an alternating way depending on the song).

Which, for me, makes it not very entertaining.  The way they will be doing it in GH2 is much better.
