I recently got myself a new HDTV and hooked up my PS2 with component cables. I'm interested in playing the following PS2 games from my collection so I would love to know if any of them support 480P and how I should set them up to enjoy said luscious visual upgrade.

Rogue Galaxy
Final Fantasy XII
Fatal Frame III
Okami
Bully
SSX On Tour
Dragon Quest VIII
Shadow of the Colossus

Muchas gracias, Gaming Trenders.

well, i know bully and ff xii DONT support it (at least in any way i know about)

if you have it, god of war has a progressive scan mode, and i was nicely surprised / impressed with how it looked once that was turned on

if you dont have god of war, check it out, in the very least to see what a nicely done 480p game looks like (it seems like youre an rpg player - i am too though i also like shooter and "action" types - god of war was a game i really didnt have any particular interest in until i played it - at which point i was instantly sold)

www.hdtvarcade.com is what you want.

Off the top of my head from your list:

Games that don't support 480p:

Rogue Galaxy (still looks great even in 480i)
FFXII
DQ8
Okami

Games that do support 480p:

SotC

Don't know about Bully or SSX though.

Hahaha, you just made my day.

And as Kevin Grey said, HDTV Arcade is a great repository of this sort of information.

Oh, quite the contrary. It's absolutely and totally my thing because it's the best game on the PS2. I obsessed over beating it for weeks on end. Just click on suicidal Elmo.

Thanks for the info and HDTV Arcade link.

Just click on suicidal Elmo.

That's my ultimate comfort thread. Whenever I need soothing, I can always turn to Rob's encounter with the nefarious golden cock monkey and happiness is restored.

If anyone has not read rrmorton's Golden Cock Monkey thread over at OO please do so now (like he said click on the suicidal Elmo).  That entire thread is one of the funniest laugh out load while crying stuff I have ever experienced on the Internet.  I don't post at OO but I do read it from time to time and that thread is hands down the best ever!

how I should set them up to enjoy said luscious visual upgrade

For most 480p games you have to hold down the x and triangle button at start up to set it to progressive, some games like Shadow of Collosus allow you to select it from the option menu. Also you will want to change your system settings to allow for progressive playback and widescreen support of DVDs.
