According to this press release, if you preorder Banjo Kazooie : Nuts & Bolts, you get a code to download the original Banjo Kazooie free from XBox Live Arcade. It also confirms that the game will retail for $39.99.

Im a huge fan of the old Banjo games... but I have to be honest that I am a little leery of this current title. And it now being offered at a budget title rate... Concerns me.

Yeah this makes no sense with the crap that comes out that is still 59.99. Something is up for the game to only cost 39.99.

With the relative failure of other MS properties to penetrate the family/casual market the price point could very well be a strategic maneuver on MS's part to try and get better traction with that demographic.

I think I'll have to do this. I was definitely going to get the arcade title (I'm a sucker for 3D platformers and I never had an N64), so doing so would basically give me N&B for what, $25? Pretty low risk.

Hey, when you put it that way (which matches me, B-K on XBLA is a definite buy for me)... that's a pretty good deal!

It's just like when I used to work at retail. If store discount new release game for more than $10.00, it could be the best game in the universe, we would sell less because customers think that the game must be suck because price is too low.

And this is why Sony and Microsoft continue to release the same damn priced PS3/360, but with more 'value added features'. Stupid general public.

According to the IGN preview, That aggressive pricing and bonus caused many to think that Nuts & Bolts is a short or low-budget game. Not so, according to Rare. The pricing decision was entirely up to Microsoft and was merely done to encourage people to pick the game up. This is definitely, "not a budget title," and we've been assured that, "it will take a long time to beat it."

Well in that case, I loved Banjo and Kazooie on the N64, so I'll be picking up this one and getting the download coupon for the OG game.

With the relative failure of other MS properties to penetrate the family/casual market the price point could very well be a strategic maneuver on MS's part to try and get better traction with that demographic. That would be my guess as well. With the recent poor performance of Lego Indy on 360, MS needs to have a casual/family game that performs well and yes they're willing to subsidize it to ensure it. I've read many previews and watched many demos of this game and it's looked to be a winner every time. Not to mention that my kids play Kameo and Viva Pinata on a consistent basis and my nephew and I are on our 2nd co-op play of PDZ. So yeah, Rare definitely still holds a warm spot in my households heart. With a price of $40 and the original N64 game thrown in I'm IN for this day 1, perhaps more than any other game in 2008!

I wonder if you'll be able to (finally) open up the secret areas from the N64 game now. Anybody remember that?

According to IGN - Many will remember that the first Banjo-Kazooie game promised to interact with Banjo-Tooie. That didn't pan out, but that feature will finally be realized on Xbox 360. By finding specific items in Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox Live Arcade, you will be able to unlock things in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Also, according to this article, Banjo-Tooie will also be coming to XBLA and may interact with the original BK and/or Nuts & Bolts.

Does anyone know how the pre-order thing works? Does it matter where I buy from to get this code? Do I have to wait for some promotion to start? EDIT: Well I see this at Amazon: Order your copy of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and receive a code to download the original Banjo-Kazooie game from Xbox Live. Codes will be emailed within 5 business days after the game releases. Offer good while supplies last. Limit one code per household. Promotion valid only when sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

Too bad the codes aren't given out before the new game is released. It would be nice to play the original before the new one.

According to the press release, BK for XBLA won't be released until a few weeks after Nuts & Bolts, whereas you get a code to DL the game as soon as N&B releases. It's odd that they don't put out the XBLA version first to get people excited about N&B.

Agreed. Seems to me they should be releasing Banjo 1 now, with Banjo Tooie in late September/early October.
