So the first shows what happened to AS' main facility and a portal to another one. GladOS 2.0, backed up and running new experiments. Sounds like MotS to me. I'm hoping for some more exploration outside the walls and some in-game tie to HL2.

I doubt that the plants would be as prevalent in the 2nd pic if it were MOTS. Also, GLADoS looks in one piece in the first pic, which is definitely not the state in which we left her.
Time will tell.

I think "outside the walls" is implied in the cover shot. I'm so excited for this. Portal is the only game ever that I've played through more than twice. Is that Old Man Murray guy still writing it, has anyone heard?

He seems to be Valve's main script writer these days, so I don't see why he wouldn't be.

Gamestop's product descr: Coming this holiday. Portal 2 is the sequel to 2007's Game of the Year and draws from the award-winning formula of innovative game play, story, and music that earned the original over 70 industry accolades. Features single and multiplayer co-op modes. The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game. The game's two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Just thinking about 4 portals just broke my mind.
But, you know there will be people posting split screen speed runs day 1 when it comes out.

saw an ad on gamestop and cant wait, coop with multiple portals with different frequencies would be complex, but if you and someone are good at speedrunning, just imagine how fast and crazy some chapters could get.

DelayedToday, the Seattle-area studio announced that its follow-up to 2007's award-winning Portal has been bumped to 2011 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game had previously been scheduled to arrive this fall.
According to the studio, Portal 2's delay came about as part of "the successful completion of an ethics-review-panel-supervised release date restructuring process," and that "public safety concerns factored into the decision." Valve also noted that "the game will be even better" as a result of the push.

Saw the interview on G4 - single player is twice as long as the campaign in original Portal, and co-op story (completely separate) is also twice as long as the original campaign. Will be on PS3, XBOX, PC and Mac.

That still seems too short for a full-price game.

That still seems too short for a full-price game. IIRC Portal took 2 and a half hours to finish. so P2 should take 5 hours for SP, 5 for Co-op and then there will probably be challenges. it also wouldn't surprise me if they bundled it with something else.

This is a just a ploy so they can keep delaying episode 3 I really have to wonder what is taking episode 3 so long. I think Bioshock 2 was made in the time I've been waiting for Ep3 to come out. Even for Valve time, this is taking quite a while. I wonder if Gabe came into the office one day and said "No more Halflife! I'm sick of that shit!" and that was that. It would be nice if valve said something. Even if it was,"We're working on a new engine, so don't hold your breath for Ep3." would be fine.

Assuming this is Gabe from Penny Arcade, there's a reason. If it's not (as I have not watched the video, please move along, nothing to see here. He's been battling an anxiety disorder which is also covered in the associated news post.

It would be nice if valve said something. Even if it was,"We're working on a new engine, so don't hold your breath for Ep3." would be fine. It may even have been BOTH Bioshock 1 & 2. I'll actually be a little bummd out if they go with a new engine for 3. It feels less a part of a whole that way. Saw the interview on G4 - single player is twice as long as the campaign in original Portal, and co-op story (completely separate) is also twice as long as the original campaign. IIRC Portal took 2 and a half hours to finish. so P2 should take 5 hours for SP, 5 for Co-op and then there will probably be challenges. it also wouldn't surprise me if they bundled it with something else. Took me about 4 hours (all three times I played it), so 8 hours seems like a reasonable timeframe. Stuff I've read before mentioned that the SP was going to be a full-length game. Add in co-op, you'll have enough for a full release.

Yeah, now that's pretty crazy.
Guess Sony really wanted Valve games on their systems to let them pull this kind of stuff. Although that is one of the benefits of having an open multiplayer system I guess.

since the steam version is supposed to come on a voucher I'm thinking of buying the PS3 version, using the voucher and then trading in the game right away.
