Funny thing is that it was listed as compatible by Nelson but
when I look at the official list I find nothing about it.

So. Does it work and furthermore does it work better than on a XBOX? Like better visuals, load times etc.

LOL,me and Myto are both starting to play this, this weekend on the 360

I SAID-as i havent played the game before i told her, that the first loading screen took ages but then when you were in the actual game the loading screens werent that bad at all,and said that it was no different to Oblivion loading screens

SHE SAID..that playing the game on the 360,hasnt improved the loading times at all(she also said it was prone to freezing from time to time..but i havent come across any freezes yet)

i have the normal XBOX version, she has the GOTY version..they both work..but i think you will find that there are no improvements, apart from playing on the 360 controller,LOL

but i am very much looking forward to playing this,as i missed out on it when it was first released(Oblivion was my introduction to the Elder Scrolls)

Great. I thought about hunting down an old copy.

Oblivion GOTY was on sale this weekend but I realised that what I really want to play, is Morrowind. It was always the better game in my book.

i went to try and find GOTY version of Morrowind, but it seems GAME have stopped selling xbox 1 games now(a few weeks ago they stopped selling gamecube titles..which pissed me off as i wanted to get resi evil 1)..if i order online for the game i have to wait until i get paid and also for the actual thing to be delivered..which could be weeks,so i am starting the regular version today,i guess no werewolf for me icon_frown

Gamestop usually has some used copies in their shelves.

What about Ebay or Play.com then?

well, with Ebay or Play.com i would have to wait as i say,it could be over a week (getting paid and then being able to order it and wait for it)

my nearest Gamestop from Manchester(UK) is Cheshire..and then Birmingham disgust

so i think i will just have to accept to play the vanilla version

there are two shops i will try on Tuesday(ones in the market, the other is a second hand shop that i know have Xbox games),if i am not too far into the game and they have a copy,i will start it again with the GOTY version..depends how far i get into it this weekend

I still can't believe I will be playing Morrowind again!  I played the original game on the XBox, for months on end, day and night.  Then I replayed it and replayed it and replayed it...  I just had to see what the other Strongholds looked like, and do the other House's quests.  A while later, someone got me the GOTY and the newer guide - and I played it again.   icon_eek

I figured I'd never be able to go back, even with my memory.  I told Metal I'd check out how the load times are with BC on the 360 - and I got caught up again - and stayed up all night playing.

What I find odd is that some of the problems I had with my old XBox seem to have followed me to the 360, even with the GOTY version.  The first time I load the game for a session, that takes forever and it's no big deal.  After that, if I move from a larger area to a smaller one (going inside a building from a city) - also, no problem.  The load times going from the room to the city, however, are brutally long.  And the game froze at least once in my first session back.

I'm playing my favorite character - the Khajiit... a cat creature, with a long tail.  My character used to get stuck in the environment at times - the curve on the end of the tail was often an anchor.  I adore Morrowind, but it is definitely a "save frequently" game.

I can't believe I'm playing it again.   retard

Well, I forgot about one other glitch - apparently having more to do with the BC on the 360 - since this particular problem never happened on the original XBox.  My save files are corrupted in some way, such that I cannot save over previous saves (and the little picture you have for the save is all scrambled).  I could save normally when I first started playing, but after several hours, I noticed that the "save-over" wasn't happening.  It would say it was, but the times wouldn't change.  My solution is to do a New Save every time - and delete old Saves as I go.  It's a pain, but it does work.

At least the game did not freeze tonight, even once - though the load times in some places are unbelievable.  If they don't get worse, I'll deal with that - because I love the game so much. After all, my RL dog might need walking, or I can go get an "adult beverage," or I can flip TV channels while I wait.

I really should have bought stock in Bethesda... or maybe they should have bought stock in me, lmao!   icon_razz

Myto,i just sent you an email about that saving thing(and yes my picture is all scrambled as well)..for some reason the name of the save isnt being changed automatically..mine still had a 2007 name on there, until i clocked on what was happening and changed it last night, but it is still saving as there is other info, regarding your current save in the name change box that tells you

I wonder if they ported DOSBox to the Xbox...it is more or less a PC inside... biggrin

And what I personally want is some (insane) modder to port Oblivion or Morrowind to the Fallout 3 engine. It's a very stable engine, and the load times are really short compared to the previous two titles. And the F3 engine is little more than Oblivion's modded up...

Well, my PC version was anything but stable. That includes the latest patch.
Great game otherwise and yes the leveling system is far better than Oblivion.

I hope a Morrowind2 is in the works.

well, an Elder Scrolls 5 is probably being worked on, but I'm guessing it will be another province instead of returning to Morrowind.

its been said (by Bethesda's Publishing Executive, Paul Oughton..thank you Wiki)...that The Elder Scrolls 5 Could be released in 2010

if that is so,then we all know how much work goes into these titles, they definetly would of started work on this already(i am guessing)...but then again,i maybe dreaming here, but i for some reason vaguely remember them saying they started work on it as soon as number 4 was released,or maybe i have been at too much herbal tea again retard

Have you tried running it with the fan-made launcher? I have Morrowind GOTY and run it with the launcher and it's rock solid. That launcher also allows me to run it widescreen with the correct aspect ratio on my HDTV and I must say for a 6 year old game it looks very good. slywink

Okay, I'm obviously an idiot - I played this game over and over, with all it's bumps and blemishes... but I've never heard of this launcher thingie.  What is it, where do you get it, and are you talking about something that runs on the 360 or the old XBox, or is it PC only?

Just a few questions, lol.   Tongue

Fallout 3 was by far the least buggy of the games. I think I had it crash exactly once during my 60 hours of playing on my PC - and at that point I'd already hit the Exit Game button.

Crashes quite often for me, and according to the tech forum it isn't exactly uncommon for NVIDIA users.
Oblivion worked 100% for me though.

And here I own an NVidia 8800GTX. *shrugs*

Oblivion, especially once modded, rarely had a lifespan of an hour or two before it would blow up. And yet I still put in 100 hours into the game.

heh, anyone remember Daggerfall, back in the days before broadband was widely available and it needed a bunch of patches?  including the fun:

Quote
A crucially plot-critical bug would cause the letter from the King of Worms to princess Morgiah of Wayrest to disappear if the player fast travelled from the Dragontail Mountains to Wayrest. This could be circumvented by travelling the full distance in real-time, a journey that would take several hours, depending on whether or not the player had acquired a horse.

damn, that game was huge.  apparently it was bigger than Arena, which I find kinda hard to believe since Arena took place in the whole Empire.  too bad it never got a 10th anniversary free release like Arena did.

Update:  I'm still playing Morrowind GOTY on the 360 - but only because I finally looked up some info on how to reduce the number of times the game freezes.  Some of the fixes are easy or obvious, some are a pain to do but worth it, and some are just flat-out stupid.  I tried the ones (below) in bold, and they actually seem to work.

First, I went everywhere that I could remember where I had left piles of stuff, picked it all up and used "Recall" to return to Creeper to sell what I could; the rest, I put in crates or sold elsewhere.  I also removed all of my furnishing embellishments: the candles, torches, skulls, and sets of armor were removed and either boxed or sold ( icon_cry ). I'm still stumbling on piles of stuff occasionally, but after I got most of it cleared, the save blocks went down by about five - and the game stopped crashing as frequently as it had.

I hadn't been saving over previous saves, so that was easy to continue. I knew you didn't need to load three separate games to clear the XB cache - imagine doing that! Metal saved me there, with the instructions on how to clear it which I'd forgotten. To be on the safe side, I also "slept" for eight days, twice, lol.

Turning off the Shadows and the Auto-Save was easy, but I resisted turning off the music - I love that music! I finally tried it, and suddenly crashes are no longer the norm, instead, they are now an extremely rare event (once in the last 24 hours of play.) I didn't miss the music quite as much as I thought I would, because there are still sound effects - clashing of swords, rain, wind, etc., in-game talk, and footstep noises.

How great does a game have to be if people are willing to do any of the following?

Quote
It is actually compromised integrity of the save file and/or system cache which is the cause of most of the common system failures in Morrowind. Large save file size plays only a very small part in the cause of failure.

Here are the are the actual ways to greatly reduce the chances of getting a Dirty Disk Error, Freeze-up, or Non-Loadable Save File.

The first 5 items in the list promote optimal system performance. The last 5 promote save file and system cache integrity.

1. Situate the Xbox/Xbox360 in a cool and well ventilated location.
2. Avoid placement locations that are more susceptible to particulate debris and/or moisture.
3. Attach the system's power cord to an outlet that is not overly used by other electronic devices.
4. Make sure that there is approximately 15% unused space on the system's hard drive at all times.
5. Turn off Morrowind's “Music” and “Shadows” features in the Options menu (these setting changes greatly increase system performance).
6. Turn off Morrowind's "Auto-save when Rest" feature in the Options menu.
7. Save your current game to a new save file at least every hour of game-play. Do not save over previous save files.

8. Avoid creating the new save file while the game system is being taxed with an abundance of in-game activity.
9. Restart your system, then load and play from the new save file each time you save.
10. Do not delete the previous Morrowind save files until it is absolutely necessary.

Another set:

Quote
Fixes for freezing:

Don't leave bodies lying around; dispose of corpses.
Don't leave items out in the open; store in containers or sell them.
Don't re-arrange peasants items, as fun as this may be.
Save often, and make new save games instead of writing over old ones.

If your game keeps freezing:
Sleep for a week. this will make all/most bodies left in the open 'biodegrade', reducing memory usage.
Load three other game discs (ie Spyhunter, DOAX, Halo). this clears the Xbox cache of Morrowind data

Bug Conclusion: The game is totally playable if you are really conscious about where you leave items and corpses. As you know from playing, the game remembers where you leave EVERYTHING. Once you re-arrange every peasant's home and distribute their items to random points on the map, it is understandably strenuous for the Xbox to remember these THOUSANDS of items. Of course, it would of been possible to have this fixed, but it is something we have to live with until they possibly make a fixed version for the Xbox.
