Read about this indie game on a message board and it's pretty awesome. It's in beta stage now and I've played about 30 minutes so far and I really like what I've played.
It reminds me a little bit of Spleunky but with a shooting/RPG aspect. The 2d world is randomly generated and there is supposedly a 6-10 story in the game. You start with a jump belt that lets you traverse the world by jumping 5 times in a row, if you fall too far you take damage based on the distance you fall. You can find and buy different weapons and equipment which you will need as the world is full of traps and enemies so death is always somewhere. There are a ton of weapons to equip where you will be comparing to see which is better, faster reload or greater distance so it does give a feeling of Borderlands in a 2d plane.
