In a month filled with games that I need to purchase, I totally forgot about Phantom Brave because of Fable, Sims 2, ESPN Hockey, etc.

But I stumbled upon a review of it on Gamespot and it only got a 7.5 - the same score that they gave La Pucelle.  This disheartens me a little bit.  I was expecting some awesome tactical masterpiece, but it looks like it's just more of the same with a little different system (no more squares, sort of like a circle movement thing).  It's been getting somewhere near the 80% range for the rest of its scores, but damnit, I wanted the be-all, end-all greatest tatical rpg out there frown  That said, I'll probably be picking it up but after I get all my Sep. games.

I am going to buy it regardless of the score.  I would like to see more about the backstory and features, but this is one of the few titles I am going to buy without a closer look.

They need to take a page from wargames and make the spaces hexes instead.  People can move in more than four directions!

You are going to be a very poor man, TML.  I can't wait to hear you bitch about it!

Hmmh, I read the review, and it does sound to be the case of MOTS, with some needed upgrades in places. Truth be told, I was also expecting this to be a bit more impressive at that. Of course, it being MOTS really isn't a bad thing, since the previous titles were all about excellent gameplay.

On the other hand, I've just come from a binge of La Pucelle, and Disgaea. Gorging on too much of the same can be unhealthy... Humm. And looking at the release schedule for September, with limited funds, I've to be picky...

I figure I'll wait a bit more, before deciding whether to get this, or Star Ocean 3, first. Mind, I'll still buy Phantom Brave eventually.

I'll probably end up getting this during the week, finding time to delve into it is another story.  frown

The GS review doesn't surprise me since it seems to be so similar to Nippon Ichi's previous games.  I don't mind it, MOTS isn't always bad!  I just hope the gridless system isn't as cumbersome as the GS review made it out to be.
