Looks fantastic!! Online play too. I suppose I could be a total jackass like those dicks on the Gamefaqs board and say "oooh this game is such a ripoff of Panzer General!!!1!" but I guess it would make little sense here. That doesn't mean that I won't do it over on the Gamefaqs board though

well I believe, from what I read on the E3 coverage, this one traces some of it's roots to Panzer General with some former developers of that wondrous title on board.
Hell, why should anyone care, give me portable panzer general anyday.

Not a day one purchase for me-I'll be waiting for the reviews. But if they're good then I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Please suggest some. I'm desperate for a new DS game. I tend to lump DS and GBA games together since they play on the same machine so the first two which I was thinking of were Rebel Star: Tactical Command, and Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 which are both GBA. I would say that Lost Magic, Age of Empires and Heroes of Mana are all ..... average at best games on the DS. So perhaps not crud but not something to come back to either. Right now I am playing Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones for the hundredth time because it is still the best of TBS on the systems.

Panzer Tactics should be out on Oct 31st I believe. The website has 3 new videos up detailing the game! Looks great! It looks like a straight-up Panzer General for the DS. You even get Fame (Prestige) points that you use to purchase new units.

It does look interesting and I pretty much got the DS for a couple specific games and Turn based strategy titles. I'll be keeping an eye out on here once some of you have it. I'll need some impressions before I jump in since it looks like it's super involved and maybe a tad on the complicated side.
I'm still angry that Advance Wars is so damned hard to find.

I just got a DS recently and this is the type of game I could see having for it, but I will wait for reviews. Simple WWII based strategy sounds like a lot of fun.
This is the first I have heard of this game so thanks for posting it.

I'd hold out for the next one anyways. I really like the new look they went with. It's got a post-apocalpytic wasteland vibe, and the look for both the commanders and the units is much less, well, kiddie.

Latest official movie for this detailed Officers and Commandos. (You can only eliminate an enemy officer permamently by assassinating with a commando). Those sound fairly promising. Despite the hex map, it has often seemed more like Advance Wars than Panzer General, but it's definitely on My List (listed as Oct. 30 "shipping," so probably due in stores maybe Oct. 31./Nov. 1 in US). Panzer Tactics DS Commandos & Officers videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMRp7ZdpbmIIf you're into turn-based stuff, Front Mission (which was a very fun mech-type TBS on PSX and SNES) just released as well: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/DS/Front+Mission+DS/news.asp?c=3684&srch=Front+MissionIt's a "remix" of the original SNES version, I think.

Is this game getting limited release? BB and CC are not showing it on their sites. The only place I've seen it is online is EB....
Ok. Walmart has it listed.
So does amazon through one of its affiliates (7.00 to ship, I think not).
So does buy.com.
Just odd that it's not on BB or CC.

The UK site Pocket Gamer has a brief hands-on impressions piece (based on late preview code, the UK release is a ways off): http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/DS/Panzer+Tactics+DS/news.asp?c=4655to move a unit you simply have to tap it with the stylus and then it drag to the desired location on the grid. Context sensitive menus mean that assigning specialist orders is a breeze, and although the option to use the more traditional 'pad and buttons' interface is always available, the robust nature of the stylus control means you're unlikely to do so.
I didn't see this at Best Buy today but the turn-based Front Mission DS is in stock now. I've got my hands full in PC land right now (Hellgate and COD4), but I plan to go a little handheld crazy soon with this, Front Mission DS, SOCOM: Tactical Strike (PSP) and Warhammer 40K: Squad Command (PSP/DS). My credit card will be pleading for mercy by month's end.

No, that series is all Intelligent Systems developed and Nintendo published. Panzer Tactics is by Germany-based 10tacle Studios, known for the all-time favorite smash comedy hit classics: Happy Hippos World Tour and Oktoberfest Wiesn-Gaudi.

Well, I was on the fence. But my my local EB had a single copy, which I bought. I played through the first 6 or 7 tutorials (a couple hours of play time). I like what I see, but I've only scratched the sruface in terms of the depth of the game (there appears to be a ton of depth and details).
It's alot like Advance Wars, but not quite as friendly. And it seems much more detailed. I'll give more details after I've played some "real" missions.

Well I took a risk and ordered it online. There are a couple of favourable impressions on Gamefaqs so hopefully I don't get burned! I look forward to playing some of you guys online in a couple weeks (when my copy arrives in Japan).

I completed all the tutorial missions and the first four missions of the first campaign (that's about 10 hours of playing). It seems like a great game, but it's not really my cup of tea.
Having said that, it seems very polished and well-done. It's alot like Advance Wars, but with less charm and much more detail. My brother tried it and said "wow, this is like a real military strategy game." So, if you like that type of game (serious military sims with lots of units, unit data, terrain parameters, etc.), you'll probably love Panzer Tactics.
Here's a test. The following are some of the German Antitank units in the game: "5 cm PaK 38," "Sturmgeschutz III," "JagdPanther," and "8.8 cm AT Gun." If (1) you like turn-based strategy games (or loved Advance Wars); and (2) that lists excites you, then you'll probably really like Panzer Tactics DS. But I'm not a military history buff, so none of those units mean anything to me.
Understand that I'm not panning the game. It seems remarkable. There appears to be layers and layers of strategy available to players. And the multiplayer supposedly is awesome. Since I'm not a serious military simmer, however, much of that detail is lost on me.

Hmm, seems like it might be a pass for me after all. It sounds like one of those TBS games where I get too bogged down in learning the details that I forget to have fun, and I end up setting it aside before I really understand how to play. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, here I come!
