So last time I was asking for budget titles for the PS2.  Now, I'd like to hear what people reccomend overall without budget constraints.  I already have MGS:Snake Eater and God of War.

Game on!

If you appreciate quirky/music rythem games, I would recommend Gitaroo-Man without blinking.  My brother and me still whip it out to play a couple of really really memorable songs.  It's only 20 bucks, too.

Sticking with the budget music rythem type of game, Amplitude was a vast improvement over the original Frequency and featured better songs, imo.  I wouldn't even think about the two above if you aren't into music games, though.

Other stand-outs for me include La Pucelle: Tactics (SRPG, predecessor of Disgaea and Phantom Brave) and of course, my favorite game of this generation Kingdom Hearts.  You'll see a lot of people sling shit at Kingdom Hearts for it's camera and mini-game, but the game's charm is undeniable and I found the story to be incredibly memorable.  Plus I <3 Disney.

Oh, and Burnout 3 for sure.  Mine was for Xbox, but I'm sure there wasn't that big of a difference between console-versions.  Probably the most fun in a racing game I've ever had.

Well, I was gonna recommend MGS3 but then I read your paragraph...

I second Burnout 3. It's a racing game but it's not realistic and has spectacular crashes. Lots of fun.

If you like fighters, I recommend Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. It is immensely deep and learning how to play it is like learning a martial art. And I still suck at it. For a more conventional fighter, my vote goest to Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. I think it's much better than the sequel - if only because the animations look better (how could they mess up the animations in the sequel I can only guess).

A good RPG is Final Fantasy X which is very interesting and very nicely done - though I still haven't finished it. A lot of people recommend Shadow Hearts: Covenant but I'm still waiting for my copy, so I can't comment on it.

If you're not waiting for the PC version, I think GTA: San Andreas is one of the best games on the PS2. They put so much stuff in it to do that it could easily take you more than 100 hours to finish.

If you like survival horror games, then I strongly recommend Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. It's one of the scariest games I've played.

That's about all I can of think right now. Maybe I'll add more later on.

Tough to say without specific genre interests.

I will unreservedly recommend Ratchet & Clank and its sequels to anyone who enjoys games.

If you enjoy God of War, check out the first Devil May Cry and the Onimusha series.

Budget titles I own that I enjoy a lot:
Ico
Sly Cooper
Final Fantasy X
Smackdown:HCTP

Kingdom Hearts is decent, but I haven't enjoyed it as much as a lot of people do.

Edit: oops, read the post wrong - didn't see the price constraint lifted smile

I'd add Gran Turismo 4 to the list.

As for me it is DMC1, Onimusha 3, God of War, and yes, Killzone.

All keepers in my book.

Games that I am CONSTANTLY PLAYING over and over for PS2:

-Gran Turismo series
-Tony Hawk series
-Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors series
-Romance of the Three Kingdoms series
-Winning Eleven (soccer) series
-SSX series (SSX 3 is fantastic!)
-Beyond Good and Evil
-Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Actually a PS1 game)

Just get the latest of whatever series.  Except for maybe the ROTTK series.  There you'll just have to read some reviews and see which ROTTK style you'd like.

Beyond Good & Evil is my favorite game of this generation.  You can get it cheap as hell too, so everyone should give it a chance.

Midnight Club II is my second favorite.  With the sequal comming soon, that may change, but the price will likely drop that much as well.

Mercenaries is a must own.

Burnout and Burnout 2 were fun.  I dislike the third game a lot though.

Metal Gear Solid 2 isn't as good as the first, but it still is a solid game.

Freedom Fighters was a great game on the PC.  Not sure how well it plays with a controller though.  Same thing for Hitman 2.

I usually hate this kind of game, but Devil May Cry was a lot of fun.  Bosses rocked, unlike crappy Shinobi.

As usual, I have to recommend Primal and Mark Of Kri.

If you only have the PS2, I am really liking the new Splinter Cell game.
