TiLT, you haven't been able to get your Harmony Ultimate to work with the PS4, right?

Word is, nothing is working, remote-wise.

I was all ready to upgrade to the Ultimate from the One, too, even with it's bizarre button placement (and no skip feature).

The Harmony series of remotes don't work yet, mostly because the PS4 isn't prepared to handle such devices yet. I expect this is something that wasn't prioritized by Sony, but that it will show up in a Firmware update later. There's no reason why the two devices won't be able to communicate in the future. For now, the Ultimate allows you to add the PS4 as a device in order to set up activities, but it doesn't actually do anything yet.

Here's a post from Logitech about the situation. The important quote:

Quote
We are as excited as you are about complete home control and will continue to look for other ways to control this game console. This may require a software update from Harmony in 2014, a software update from Sony to enable Bluetooth controllers, or possibly both.

That's kind of unbelievable. That would mean that nearly everyone who bought the PS4 in the UK also bought Fifa 14. That's close to a 100% attach rate.

Would the charts reflect the free FIFA with every XBox One?   Although, I guess if you think about it, who would buy it separately if you get one from MS...the sales would be zero.  Or did only a subset of available consoles get the free copy?

From what I can tell, the charts do. All those Knack sales were in part from the bundled copies in PS4s.

Better safe than sorry is simply framing on a bad picture. something has already happen that is big enough to warrant the question coming up.

I have a new classification for my passwords - financial, admin, game related, unimportant, and Sony.

/grumbles and heads off to a ps3 to reset his password.

I don't even know what to say to your habit of assuming Sony is infallible no matter what.  It has carried over from the console war apparently.

hacked accounts used in fraudulent activity

PS4 has sold over 2 million units.   You don't have to go to war for them anymore.

Don't consoles always sell out completely between launch and Holidays (except perhaps the Wii U but we know that's likely due to confused marketing)? Are the high numbers here due to an increased demand or increased supply over previous consoles?

And the XB1 has sold 1 million. You don't have to get so butthurt for them anymore.

If I recall, the FIFA stuff was mainly a lot of phishing scams right? The kind that isn't exactly hacking network security and more like exploiting human stupidity and greed.

This response is as cute as it is predictable.   I know you take your "Defender of Sony!" role seriously, but you can't honestly say that Sony hasn't had some serious big-time security problems in the recent past.   The news releases cite suspicious activity and thus many many people were prompted to change their passwords (including me).

I can't remember the last time I had this problem with just about any service I use be it Blizzard, Steam Microsoft, etc.   I can, however remember going through credit card statements when Sony was storing our passwords on a dinner napkin just a couple years ago.    Sony needs to get their network security shit together, pure and simple.

Now go happily play Knack instead of coming up with cutesy arrogant responses to legitimate concerns.

You don't remember a bunch of your friends on 360 disappearing for months at a time while MS dealt with their accounts being hacked?  I sure do. And nevermind consoles, do you not have a Linkedin account?  They were the most recent big hack, or was that Adobe, or even gmail.  There's been several times some big site has been hacked now.   This doesn't excuse Sony, but please, don't act like this problem is just something they face.

My Blizzard account got hacked just before the Starcraft 2 expansion came out and good luck trying to get it reset. Try calling Blizzard Customer service to get them to reset your account password, it takes a minimum of 45 minutes on hold. I finally gave up. To this day I can't play Starcraft, WoW, or Diablo 3 because they are all tied to that account.

So don't act like Sony is the only one capable of being hacked. That's complete BS.

If Blizzard thinks your account has been compromised or your a gold farmer in WoW its a fucking pain in the ass to get it straightened. Sort of a guilty until proven innocent. Sony does have issues but I could make an endless list of companies who have had network/account problems out there.

Yeah, I had a level 59 guy in WoW that I leveled just after the game's release. There's no trace of that account any more, and no way for me to retrieve it. I've considered it lost for years. Someone stole it from me at some point without me noticing, because I don't tend to play Blizzard games very often.

All this Blizzard talk is beside the point, really - and one of the reasons why I try to stay on topic. The security concerns are real, as one does not simply notify and possibly force tens of millions of users to change their password on a whim - and `better safe than sorry` is as much for their stockholders as it is for their customers.

I`m not saying this action is condemnable or as bad as the last time, and I`m sure this will be a non-event in peoples memories a year from now, but just like ANY MS hardware failure conjure up RRoD pains, so too does this with Sony. Good on them for taking what seems to be immediate action, though they`ve not revealed how widespread or how long this exploit they`re `fixing`has been going on. Given the scope of how many people report having to change their PSN account password with no details, [all] is more likely than [none].

All this Blizzard talk is beside the point, really - and one of the reasons why I try to stay on topic. The security concerns are real, as one does not simply notify and possibly force tens of millions of users to change their password on a whim - and `better safe than sorry` is as much for their stockholders as it is for their customers.

Sony hasn't exactly released a lot of information about this issue, but from what I've been led to understand, the security hole isn't actually in Sony's systems. The password changes apparently come from a recent string of phishing attempts against players on a different network (Twitch, I believe), and Sony is doing a blanket Password reset to make sure any information stolen through such efforts becomes useless to the criminals.

If that`s the case, then I applaud their decision to take it on the chin as it were. It also makes me more comfortable in the wait-to-get-it-in approach that MS took - they`re scrambling on getting stuff in, and having a partner introduce a security hole on top of that would be maddening.
