You know, I could see Diablo 3 being exclusive to the PS3/PS4 and World of Warcraft being exclusive to the Xbox. Fits with the new Xbox and their wanting to be the "entertainment" system and the PS4 being for the more "core" gamer.

Not sure what to make of the lack of bc and the new social aspects.  In one way, the bc omission doesn't affect me like it will with the 360 as I have only a handful of PS3 games, but I would have less resistance to upgrading if I knew I could play them without having to keep the PS3 around.

Yeah the concave will certainly help,but they still go too far down...if you have a PS3 and a 360 pad,try looking at them both side on,to see what i mean

I assume we'll get a lot more info at E3 as there was only so much they could show here. I'm interested in the new dash, which looked a lot more like the XBOX dash, how things like voice chat are integrated, what's happening with PS+, etc. There was also no EA and really very few actual game reveals with gameplay, although the ones the showed looked great.

Also does this mean there will be a headset that can be plugged into the controller? It also sounds like you'll finally be able to charge the controllers with the machine off, thankfully.

The only thing that scares me a bit is going to be the price of this thing. The Geforce Titan will have 6GB of GDDR5 and cost $1000. That is only a graphics card! Either Sony will have to take a HUGE loss on this or it will be $600-$700. I just don't see any way it can be under $400 with these specs. If it is over $500....then I don't see any way that it will be that successful. The Vita obliterates the 3DS in features and power...but it is more expensive and the 3ds is killing it in sales. I fear the same thing may happen with the PS4. It's a beast of a machine...but it may price itself out of contention.

The controller as shown is the controller. They brought it out on stage, showed it off, etc. It is the final controller.

Sony cannot afford to make any mistakes this next generation. They just do not have the cash reserves to do so. This is partly why so much of their presentation was all about wooing developers.

The reason why there is no price announcement is that they're waiting for MS to announce their price.

Has there been any word about the Eye beyond basics? Apparently it can also track objects in 3D space, but no word on the tech behind it or if it's as accurate as the kinect.

The odd bit of tech specs I saw had two different cameras, slightly offset, but also with different lens FoVs. I wonder if the offset combined with the different FoVs assists in depth perception?

Playstation 4 will not block used games. Not that this should be a surprise to anyone. I'm concerned that people grasp onto a patent registration as some sort of confirmation of their worst fears. That patent wasn't even related to the PS4, according to the article.

You'd better go take a look at your PS3 controller again because those triggers look nothing like the old controller's. They may not be as good as the 360 (if you're into that sort of thing on your controller) but they look pretty good. Overall I gotta say that pic that you posted looks HOT. Those handles look comfortable as hell. I'm loving the texturing on the back of the handles. It hopefully won't feel as slippery as the PS3 controller.

Anybody know what's on the bottom of the controller? It looks like a earphone jack and...something else? I don't know if the 360 already does this but earphone jack would be super cool. I wouldn't need to use the super long cord earphones that I have to plug into the TV.

A couple of things I notice regarding the controller:

- The joysticks are further apart than on the old Dual Shock. This means that those who've had problems with colliding thumbs hopefully shouldn't experience that any more.
- The mini jack might be sound out, mic in, or both. Imagine playing a hotseat multiplayer game where every player has his own audio. This could also lead to some interesting play mechanics for such games where each player receives different information. Creative developers could go completely bananas with it.
- I think the other input port may be for the charger cable, but who knows? Could be some kind of attachment for other peripherals too.
- There is also a speaker just above the Home button, which could be useful for certain games.
- The Start and Select buttons are gone forever. Now we have Share and Options. This was about time, for the old buttons no longer served a real purpose in modern consoles. The new names make it obvious what they're for.
- The touch pad might not be ideal for games, but it'll make applications such as the browser much easier to use. It supposedly registers "clicks" too, so you can essentially use it in the same way as you'd use a touchpad on a laptop. I'm sure we'll see applications and games with menus that support a mouse due to this.
- The top of the controller is smooth, but the underside seems to be textured, giving you a more firm grip than what it might look like in some of the pictures.
- The L2 and R2 buttons look like they won't get activated simply by placing the controller on a table any more.

All in all, I think the new controller looks slick and comfortable.

By the way, while the Killzone demo was impressive graphically, what impressed me the most about it were the weapon sounds. They had an enormous amount of oomph and uniqueness to them.

Someone mentioned (and it makes sense now) that the two inputs might be for a proprietary headphone input. I remember Sony had something similar for their headphones that had the remote control. Regular jack for the sounds and the other thing to allow different kinds of control inputs.
