Oh,can i hope for one button to turn the machine off as well?

The 360 does it..why not the Playstation,i hate how you have to hold your finger down on the button and then wait for the green light to stop flashing and turn to red and then switch off at the back...or on the controller,you hold your finger down,then it asks you if you want to turn off the system or controller AND THEN you switch off at the back

Uhm... you're doing it wrong?

You should never hard reset the PS3 like that unless it has crashed, and you should never have to turn off the power switch on the back (that one seems to be there more for safety than anything else). Always, always use the menus to turn the console off. There's nothing to it. I'll assume you're turning off your 360 by pressing the power button too? If so, you're lucky to never have experienced data loss. It's the same thing with Windows on a PC as well. Never use the power button except in emergencies!

I have a launch PS3 and I almost always turn it off with the power button on the console itself and I've never had any problems. So I think you may be overly concerned here.

I think Tilt's point is that you should never need to use the switch on the back unless it's a hardlock and the front power button or remote don't respond.  He just feels the need to be snarky and superior.

I wouldn't expect the prices to be much different for the new Xbox. It'll probably start at $399 or more, with two or more different modls. I would be very surprised if it went any lower than that. Also keep in mind that both consoles appear to come prepackaged with extra hardware this time around, such as the Kinect and the Playstation Eye.

I am wondering now how did you turn off your Xbox 1 or your PSOne?

and you do realise that the PS3 menu option,the controller option OR leaving your finger on the front button for a few seconds,all do the exact same thing right?..they power down the machine,and if you don't want to leave the PS3 in stand by mode(you may guess here that i don't),then you turn off at the back

A hard reset would be when the menu,controller or front button do not respond and you are resigned to just using the button on the back


Same with PC

when i have finished i press the front button to power down(OH NOOES i don't go into the start menu and select shut down!!!),and then i switch both my monitor off with the button at the front and the switch at the back of the PC

Not having any issues with twitch tv feed. Polygon and The Verge feed is being hammered. Lots of buffering

I don't know what those feeds are,but the Kotaku and the Eurogamer ones were buffering alot...thankfully i remembered Twitch feed through the GT front page,and yeah no problems

Great stuff so far, don't really like the new OS thingie, XMB looked a lot better imo. Also controller is really ugly but as long as it's comfy I guess.

I am pretty sure that MS will follow suit and not be able to play PS3 games on their next Xbox

MS will have some built in BC due to most of their developers having to use the 360 API strictly. This makes it a lot easier to do BC.
