Dead Nation port coming to PS4 with plus next month.  What's really interesting though are the features to make streaming interactive where viewers can modify your game to some degree.

I'm excited for this! I'm loving that it's free as well for PS+ users!

Also, infamous is going to be great. Can't wait to play it!

As for Titanfall, if I get it, it will be on the PC.

6 million sales as of March 2nd. Attach rate seems to be about 2.3, which is kind of low, but probably a result of the PS+ strategy. I guess this means the PS4 has surpassed the Wii U in total sales already.

I stopped by my local gamestop on Saturday with my son. I did the casual "Got any PS4's in stock?" "Yep, we just got a few."

Sold.

What impresses me the most about the PS4 is how freaking fast this thing is. I was up and running in about 15 minutes and that includes updates. So far I've played Killzone, Thief (LOVE!), and Outlast which scared the shit out of me. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and the controller feels great.

It's unfortunate that there are not a lot of games but it also makes me concentrate on the few I have.

Price increase? Yup - only here in Canada.

Assuming the price points in that article are in Canadian dollars, $449 CND works out to about $405.47 USD at the current exchange rate.  The price increase surely sucks and non-US gamers are routinely gouged by publishers charging insane markups, but I can at least see why Sony would move towards parity in its North American pricing.

I feel bad for anyone who was looking to pull a YellowKing and pick up a PS4 just in time for Second Son.  Does anyone remember if Purge already got his console?

In my 25 plus years of gaming I have never seen a price increase. Ridiculous - and in those years currency has always fluctuated.

Wow, that is nasty. Why is there a price increase? Are they just price gouging due to the rarity of the console or something?

Mostly likely exchange rate issues and the pricing being centered on USD.

Got a chance to hook up the new PS4 and mess around with it a bit. No games yet other than the freebies, so here's my impressions:

- The console looks pretty slick on my TV stand. I've never hated the XB1's design - it looks like a media machine and fits well with my other equipment. The PS4 definitely looks like a console. Both are appealing in their own ways, though the PS4 taking up less room is a plus.

- The interface is much, much better than the XB1. I didn't think the XB1's was all that bad until I saw how easy it was to find stuff in this one. On the other hand, the XB1's offers far more customization, so there's a trade-off. Just for getting stuff done quickly, however, I prefer the PS4's UI.

- The PS4 definitely has more stuff going on in its Store. More free games, more downloadable games in general. The free game stuff with PS+ is definitely nice. I downloaded Resogun and Dead Nation. Sorry I missed Outlast, as that was on my want list.

- While this controller is a drastic improvement over previous PS controllers, I still prefer the Xbox's offset analog sticks. And I've never been able to get used to the PS's damn shape buttons. Don't care for the light bar as it seems like a waste of battery, but the touchpad is nice. Also, I love the speaker in the controller (even though it's too loud!) Still, having my controller tell me info in game was pretty cool.

- I don't like Resogun. Sorry, but if this is the game Sony and reviewers were holding up as an awesome launch title, color me unimpressed. Reminds me of the Geometry Wars hype of the Xbox 360, and yeah, I hated that game too. Just not my playstyle - I stopped playing arcade shooters for points back in the '80s.

- Dead Nation is pretty fun. Especially for free.

- I agree with Crusis - the thing is really fast. The XB1 definitely feels like it suffers from a bit of MS "bloat" after speeding through this UI.

Until I get a "real" game it's hard for me to really judge it on its gaming merits, but so far I'm very happy with it. It seems like a solid pure gaming machine, and I can't wait to get my hands on some AAA titles for it. Is it so vastly superior to the XB1 that I'm kicking myself repeatedly for foolishly giving MS my money? Not by a long shot - I still prefer Xbox Live, the XB1 controller, the launch titles, and the multimedia integration on the XB1 - but it's nice to know the PS4 is there to play some awesome looking exclusives.

If you haven't played Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag yet, I would consider the PS4 version to be the definitive experience.  The vanishingly small graphical downgrade from the PC version is offset by not needing to jump through any weird hoops to fix Ubisoft's V-Sync issues, and I thought it was the best AC game since Brotherhood.

And don't forget: if you have a Vita or PS3, there's a bunch of free games you can nab off PSN for those platforms too!

Agreed. I played both the Xbox One and PS4 versions of ACIV and there is no question that the PS4 version is a superior experience. It was honestly shocking to me to see the difference in the two versions.

You can adjust the volume on the remote speaker. Just hold down the ps button and I think the option is adjust devices on the screen that comes up.

So glad I got my PS4 at "low" price of $399 before they jacked them up. Sucks that games are 69.99 up here now though.

Also MLB 14 The Show has been announced to be out on May 6th. This is the only exclusive I care about.

eek Nice. Look at the crowd, and they say next years version will feature an even better crowd. The lighting, crowd, and stadium details all set a super high bench mark for other sports games this gen.

I find it disturbing that two different guys in two different shirts are standing with their arms in the exact same position (there are a bunch of women with their hands on their hips, too).  The crowd looks so good otherwise, it's like suddenly discovering that you're in the Matrix.

Anyone experience the issue where their PS4 turns on randomly when powered off, spits the disc out, and then won't let you put it back in until you unplug it? Seems to be a common problem and now my system is affected. May need to ship back for replacement.

This would make two units I personally know of already with serious issues. My friend had to return his because it kept randomly powering down.

Does that do it if you shut it down, or is it just suspended?

Shut right down.

I'll be doing something in the next room and suddenly hear the eject beep and when I check the disc is popped out, the machine is on, and the drive gears are intermittently grinding away and it won't accept any discs.

Looks like it's happening to people during gameplay as well but I've only seen it while powered down.

I don't know if availability is going up or if I just experienced an insignificant anecdotal blip, but I was running around doing errands yesterday and saw PS4s in stock at GameStop, Best Buy, and Target in my area.

I think retailers receive one large shipment per month, so that's what you may have come across. Check if the consoles are still there in a couple of days. smile

I'm not saying they're going to stay on the shelves for long, so I'm not sure what checking in a couple of days is going to accomplish.  I was just commenting on how I saw them in stock at multiple places at once for the first time.  I can usually spot one in the wild every week, but typically just at a single store out of a handful I visit.

It's still pretty constrained in the channel that's for sure.  I haven't had any days recently where I hit up more than one store, but I check whenever I do stop by.  I've seen more XB1s on the shelf than PS4s with only one exception when I saw a pallet of PS4 bundles at Costco the day they stocked them.
