The price shows as $49.99 on Steam instead of the $39.99 it apparently runs if you buy at a retail store.
What the hell.

Watching your stream now.
So far I have a good feeling about this. Personally I think I will prefer 360 due to LIVE but the PC version seems nice too.
I like the voiceovers better than OFP/ARMA so far. They were too robotic.
Though so far I think both weapon models and sounds are better in BF:BC. Maybe it is the video?

Cool intro, much better than the bland background story in ARMA2 (it has potential but it never materialized in the demo at least).
I guess it can be skipped though?

Played the first mission of the campaign. Graphics maxed out on Intel E5200, 4gb ram, 260GTX, Windows 7 64bit. Runs smoothly, much better than the ArmA2 demo did.
Seems like fun. Voiceovers are much better than ArmA2. Intro was neat, but low budget (basically a powerpoint presentation). Some openendedness to the missions.
Looks like a good shooter to keep me occupied until MW2 comes out.

Is it closer to COD games, GRAW/RB6Vegas or OFP/Arma1/2? I'll probably end up getting it anyway but might pick up Arma2 first. Hoping for something between GR1 (Better than Graw/RB6Vegas) and OFP/Arma.

Well, if the Dragon Age trailers taught us anything, it is that high budget doesn't necessarily make for better trailers.
I liked the intro because it put everything into a context I could accept.

I didn't say I didn't like it, just that it was low budget. Well done though. Some more impressions/notes: Can't "jump". Not sure if that is realism or not, but would be nice to walk over things. Can't mouselook when in a vehicle. Interface is pretty slick. Sounds are great. Creepy, I haven't played OpFor or Armed Assault, so I can't compare it. It reminds me a lot of the original Ghost Recon PC games FWIW.

Peer to peer I believe, you could use Ventrilo or whatever. Haven't tried multi myself.

I had the afternoon off, so I grabbed this on steam and played through the first mission.
Impressions...
The intro doesn't seem low budget to me at all... just a very particular style, and far beyond any powerpoint presentation I've seen.
The game itself takes some getting used to, but once I settled into it I was having a good time. I liked how other objectives were revealed as I moved around the little island, and the assaults were pretty nifty. Even better was when I would be approaching an objective and I run smack into a chinese patrol and we'd get into a super intense firefight at <50m. Graphics are nice, and the progression of time is cool (I started the mission in the daylight and jumped on the chopper in the dark).
I could do without the head bob, but it didn't make me sick, and I stopped noticing it after about 20 minutes.
The first mission was quite lengthy, with fun terrain and objectives. I was worried that the game might be very short because I heard only 11 missions, but if they are all this big or bigger, it'll take at least that many hours (if not more) to work my way through this.
I haven't tried MP yet, but I will.
Question: How do I actually *fire* the javelin? I picked it up, and aimed it, but it wouldn't fire... maybe I was too close? Maybe I need to do more steps?

I've heard you need to hold the javelin on the target fir 15 seconds before it fires. I'll know fir sure later tonight, I have my copy sitting here with me as I wait for food.

Played a bit of MP, it's fun but like modern games, has issues with awareness.
The vehicle controls are odd.
I can't find a way to be the secondary gunner on a vehicle, for example, the top MG turret on a tank. I can get in the commander seat on a vehicle.
There's other annoyances, for example, you can't look around while driving a vehicle. My mouse cursor disappeared from menus making me use the arrow keys to handle menus.
Hurdling is rare, and you have to press the use key while looking at the object. Certain low walls and sandbags you'd think you'd be able to hurdle over you can't.
I can't tell if they've modeled bullet drop either. And night fighting is more like fighting in a blue fog rather than night. The IR scopes work way too well and nightvision is useless.
Overall though, I like it. It's better than ArmA for me since it's a bit less realistic. However, it still suffers from some issues ArmA has, and has some other problems of its own.
The firefights are better, even if tracers aren't realistic, they're still better for games.

played through the first mission. this game REALLY needs a tutorial like ARMA2 has. not digging the radial control menu- I keep on forgetting to exit it after issuing the follow me command, so a lot of times it's 'follow me' followed by 'move to there' followed by 'follow me' with another 'move to there'.... my men must think I'm insane. I've also been playing hardcore, I may try another campaign with normal just to see if it helps me get my feet wet.
