I've been a little burned out on Billy Joel for a while now (almost wrote BJ, but that's certainly not true), but I'll probably pick it up anyway for the family/parties.

I'm kinda bummed they don't have 'We Didn't Start the Fire' either. I know it could come later, but after seeing some groups get a great (Motley Crue) and not so great (Guns N Roses) start on releases then nothing else it makes me kind of worried about ever seeing it.

Maybe in Spring?Rock Band is excited to offer a new Billy Joel edition of the popular video game [huh?], providing a masterful keyboard experience of his music to fans around the world through two downloadable game packs: a “Hits” pack of 12 songs arriving in December 2010 followed by a 6-song “Piano Challenge” pack in the spring.

Watch the panties fly off if it comes true. Chicks love that song even though technically it is not a hard song to play. The fast hand motion is extremely deceiving to them.

The Billy Joel stuff will be cool for RB3. I like Billy Joel and theres a lot of good stuff from his catalog. UNfortunately a lot of the stuff I like by him are his lesser known tunes and probably wont see RB at all, like Big Man on Mulberry Street and Innocent Man ( Id get Innocent Man just for the vocals alone ).

Didnt they say that the dlc will come in two versions now for songs now: those that work with every rock band game, and for a selection of those, some that work with pro mode in RB3 in you want to pay extra for it?

OK, so I finally grabbed Holy Diver and was trying it out with my two guitars to make sure they worked OK (GH one fine, RB2 one green and yellow are wonky), and I was in the solo section on medium (I like medium, it's fun for the skill level I'm at) when all of a sudden, in the middle of the solo, THE ORANGE FRET APPEARS!!!! WTF? dirty pool Harmonix, putting that damned fret into the medium difficulty level and breaking my streaks!

Yeah, that happened to me on a song on Medium recently, too (I'm all about Medium...the jump between Medium and Hard is just too big for my fingers). It wasn't a hard orange, necessarily, but it was so unexpected, it messed up about a dozen notes in a row for me!

Found out about it when I started charting my first RBN song. They added it to help players get over the (extremely challenging) medium to hard jump. I can't find the doc about it anymore, however.

I was just kidding of course. One of the great things about Rock Band is that it lets people of all skill levels play together and have fun. That's certainly true around our house.

OK, I think I figured out the orange fret in theory. I just have to use my index finger for both the red and green ones. the only problem is it doesn't work so well with the the way the buttons are spaced on the GH guitar, I'm going to have to get another RB one where the buttons are spaced more closely.

No, you really want to get comfortable with shifting your whole hand. Stretching your finger to alternate between two buttons is useful in some situations, but the whole hand shift is way, way more important.

I've gotten to the point (Expert Bass) where my hand is homed from red--orange, and I usually shift just the index finger back and forth to go red to green. I've found that to be much easier than homed at the easy/medium level and trying to shift down to get to orange.

I agree. You will need to be able to shift your hand to play things like yellow/orange and blue/orange cords unless your pinkie finger is as strong as your other fingers.

Anything Pro Mode for guitar would. But, it looks like the way they do that is sell an upgrade. So you can buy the normal DLC at any time and if you later on find yourself with a fancy guitar, you can buy the upgrades.
