Saw these at Gamestop yesterday, and was wondering if anyone has given them a shot yet.   I'm intrigued, but want someone else to take the plunge and tell me how they work.  smile

Got mine from Amazon on Friday.  They work fine, but I'm a little disappointed.  I had hoped they would move when you hit them like a real cymbal, but they stay stiff(which is fine for the high hat at least).  It definitely enhances the drum experience, and is taking me a little getting used to.

Of course they don't change the gameplay since it is optional to hit them.  I force myself to hit the green cymbal since that's pretty much all that green does.  The yellow one I switch over to if I notice a loud high-hat sound from the song.  But since I don't have to hit them, it changes the experience somewhat.

Another thing- I talked myself into these(as opposed to waiting a few more weeks for the 3 cymbal set) because I reasoned the blue pad isn't used for cymbals much.  I don't know what the hell I was thinking because the blue is used for cymbals PLENTY.  I'll have to overpay and nab a single cymbal for $20 when they become available.

Anyway, I'm glad I got them, but they're not as awesome as I had hoped.  If they work cymbals into the song charts (maybe with a ring or something around the note) then I would enjoy them more.

Hey, you have a couple of weeks to work on it as I will be away.  It will be amusing to come back and see where the leaderboard sits.

After playing with the cymbals some more and coming to grips that they are not the end-all-be-all that I had built them up to be, I'm glad I got them.  They really add to the experience on songs where the green cymbal is heavy.  I played some Foo Fighters last night and there were some nice sequences where the green cymbal is involved in a steady rhythm and its really loud.  I know its just me, but it seems like the cymbal sound is even louder when you hit the cymbal as opposed to the green drum.  It really adds to the experience. smile

When you use them during fills do the cymbal pads = cymbal sounds/drum pads = drum sounds?

Can't say I disagree with this though. First drum set was awful. Second was eventually broke but then was outside the window to send back. GG there.

Now my wireless is having issues, but i'm afraid to send it back over all the reports of people getting rb1 drums back instead.

Some pretty good DLC this week.  The 3 Killers songs are automatic buys for me, ditto the 2 Soundgarden tunes (Jesus Christ Pose will be a drum monster.)  I might even piss off my wife and get Laid to Rest.

The Killers pack is pretty awesome. Smile Like You Mean It is the weakest song on drums, the other two are a decent challenge and they're all great fun to play.

The Soundgarden songs weren't up when I was downloading this morning so no impressions of those yet.

jesus christ pose. well jesus christ @ the drums. i dont even know if thats a fucking beat lol. failed 6% in. it's ridiculous. laid to rest has a very strange kick pedal pattern that I can't quite wrap around. Can usually nail 60'ish and it falls apart.

In semi related news I beat won't get fooled again on X drums. Having a red pad that doesn't suck is incredible.

Well deserved if you ask me.  I went through 4 pedals and I play minimally throughout the month.  Finally gave up on them and ordered the Rock Pedal.  Now THAT'S quality.

One of my writers pick up on the December 9th release.

Also, Killers pack is pretty decent, but man do they have terrible baselines.

I'm not all that familiar with No Doubt. But isn't that most of their singles?

Yeah, I don't get it either.  It's basically every hit they've ever had.  However, this is someone speculating that because the DLC will be called The Singles that it will be the same as their greatest hits album of the same name minus two songs.

Also, your write doesn't know basic math:

Quote
No tracks revealed, but The Singles Collection 1992–2003 contained the following 15 tracks:

Only 13 of these tracks will be released, so one will be omitted.

one?

Grue, the reason for that is that the number keeps changing.  Originally it was 14 songs, then 12, then 13.  We'll edit it to correct it.

Finley - Tutto E' Possibile
Platero y Tu - Hay Poco Rock N Roll
Squeeze - Tempted
Tokio Hotel - Ready, Set, Go
The All-American Rejects - Real World

All above tracks are $.99 (80 Microsoft Points) for a one month limited time window.

Miranda Cosgrove - Headphones On
This track is totally free!

Both Naked Brothers Band tracks are permanently $.99 (80 Microsoft Points)

Pretty dry week, in my opinion. I'm glad that I've got a week for my wallet to recover.

Squeeze - Tempted is the pick of the week (Classic), and the only must-download in my opinion

lol.

Most likely taking this week off. Between TLR and WoW and then persona 4 next week. Going to cut into my rock band time. WB Jane's Addiction. Oh also Alex Nevaru was on gaint's bomb podcast last week. He said HMX has some pretty big announcements coming up. Hopefully it's some juicy DLC. And this week marks the 500+ songs. Can they break 600.
