This is the first weekend in a while that I'll actually have some uninterrupted gaming time. Of course, I'm sure I just jinxed myself...
This weekend will probably be all about Pillars of Eternity, now that it's patched. Might get around to finally trying the FF XV demo if the mood strikes. I'm sure there will be a bit of Final Fantasy Record Keeper (iOS) and Theatrhythm FF Curtain Call sprinkled in as well.
As per usual...I did none of the above. Well, I played a little bit of Pillars of Eternity,
but no more than an hour or so. It really isn't grabbing me much. I really like the story and the overall "feel" of the game, but I just don't have the patience to learn the intricacies of such a complex combat system.
I picked up War for the Overworld
(the latest attempt at recreating Dungeon Keeper) and had an absolute blast with it. The nostalgia is strong with that one. I also gave Elder Scrolls Online
another shot now that it's F2P, and once I got past the "it's just Skyrim with other people" feeling, I'm finding that I really quite enjoy it. Played up to level 7, and loved the fact that I didn't have a single "kill 10 rats" or "fetch 3 doodads" quest. Not sure if it'll have legs or not, but the beginning is certainly promising.
I did spend an hour or two with the FF XV
demo as well. Still trying to wrap my brain around an open-world FF game that isn't an MMO. Feels like Dragon Age meets Skyrim by way of Japan. Combat seems fun enough and it's certainly pretty, but I'm curious how well the story and characters will hold up. I've learned not to put too much stock into JRPG demos, one way or the other.
