OK - I'm getting into the Oblivion hype and am considering a purchase for the PC.  My one concern is that I have been doomed to suffer the dreaded FPS nausea syndrome.  I know Oblivion can be played in 3P, but how practical is it?  Will the combat be harder?  Are there distinct advantages to 1P mode?  Do any of you play in 3P mode?

So, what's the verdict for someone like me?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I think the biggest obstacle is that there is no crosshair in third-person mode.  Or if there is, I've never seen how to enable it.  So you may have to go to first person mode to interact with things.

3rd-person is available, but i think you'd have an extremely difficult time playing the who game that way...you need the first-person view with the crosshair to interact with things in the environment easily, and you'll be much more effective in combat when looking through your own eyes.  that said, you could probably get away with doing a lot of your walking around in 3rd-person and that's probably the part that is most likely to make you sick anyway.  Oblivion doesn't quite move with the same feel as a typical FPS in 1st-person either...there's no 'bob' and the pace is a little slower.  not sure how that might affect your nausea, but i would think it might help...

I was wondering if someone is making a mod for this because i hate first person, but its really hard to play in 3rd without a crosshair and trying to move the mouse around enough to interact with objects.

I have played entirely 3rd person thus far, but i might have to bite the bullet and go 1st because its just too annoying without crosshairs and the other icons.

There is a mod for the PC which enables third-person crosshair.

I think you just start the game and it should be there.  According to the readme you don't need to enable it in the data files menu.

Not only is there a mod that puts a crosshair in third person mode, but it also gets rid of the delay they put on the third person camera so it feels like a traditional third person camera.

I got the third person crosshair to work.  I had to reread the readme file to make sure I put the right folder in the right directory.

KC, I wish I had seen this earlier.  I too get sick as a dog from FPS, so I play this almost exclusively in 3rd person except to open chests.

Are you sure you extracted it properly?  I just tried it and it works fine for me.  Did you extract it to the right directory?  My download game with two different options and I chose one of them rather than extracting both.
