I've been considering picking up the GOTY Edition of Oblivion for PC...I already have played it on the xb360, but have an urge to play something on my PC and would like to explore the mods as well.

My question is...what kind of visual/performance experience could I expect on a Intel C2D6450, with 2 gigs of Ram, and an Nvidia 7800 (256) running at 1280x960? Would it be equal to the 360?

I had pretty decent performace with a vanilla P4 3.2 w/ 1 gig of RAM and a plain 6800.  I haven't played the 360 version so I couldn't compare them though.

Because I can,
also because I don't care what you want.

You would have great performance.  It would be comparable, I believe.  I have an Athlon 64 3200+ with 1.5 GB of RAM and a 6800, and I got pretty good performance.  You should be OK.
