it's too 'niche'?

"Given that that title, now in two successive versions, has just found a niche, we do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way," Farrell said. He described the development team at Volition as "talented," and noted that they would be moving on to the company's Guillermo del Toro project, Insane.

so I guess there won't be a Red Faction Guerrilla 2  disgust

That's a shame. I loved Red Faction Guerrilla.

Yeah, Guerrilla was great. I thought the MP community was fairly lively as well, but maybe not. I have the new one but I haven't tried it yet. The probably should have done Guerrilla 2 instead of what they did.

Maybe if they had built on the successful parts of Guerrilla instead of completely changing the formula to be another boring corridor shooter against generic aliens, a downloadable title not at all related to the normal games and a stupid piece of crap SyFy movie...

Well said. Send a telegram to Farrell like that.  icon_smile

I still have totally inexplicable motion sickness issues with Guerilla that keep me from enjoying it for any length of time when I revisit it (which I still do from time to time). Which is frustrating because I do enjoy the overall game.

Meh - I only read this as meaning they'll be no more Red Faction games this console gen. I mean it took them what, 7 years and a new console gen, between publishing RF2 and RFG.

Why they didn't build upon the success and go with Guerrilla 2 in the first place is beyond me. Maybe the dev team wanted to do something different I guess but now it looks done.

and then it'll probably be Red Faction: DAC Arena, a download only game for the casual gamer.

More likely a Facebook Red Faction game where you can destroy portions of the Facebook UI in the course of battles...  drillsergeant

PleasePleasePlease let this mean Volition will get to do Freespace 3.

How do we NOT have a modern space dogfighter in the current gen?
