That won't be very smart if the 360 gets a price cut....

You know, I'm still not convinced on the controller. It looks like you'll have to do a lot of extravagated movements. I haven't seen one demonstration of playing the game in a bit more relaxed atmosphere... I honestly don't want to be waving all around like that.

That's the whole point about the Wii. You're no longer just moving crosshairs on the screen - you ARE the person with the gun. It seems so simple, yet so complicated. It also is the next leap (IMHO) into 'virtual reality' and all that stuff. Better graphics are one thing, but fully controlling the person behind the screen - that's new.

You can now (at least I think it's available now somewhere in the world) purchase the Opera browser for online web surfing on the DS. Either that, or it'll be out soon.

I thought it was a great presentation. Watching the controller in action, especially on Zelda and Red Steel, really shows off how amazing it is.

Only thing I would have liked to heard more about is the Virtual Console. Need more details on that thing.

I didn't see anything that scared me off the console. If we get independent reports that the controller works as advertised, is sensitive as a mouse, and is fun, I'll be seriously thinking about throwing down a pre-oder.

That surprises me as well. Only reason I can think of is that they're waiting to see if Microsoft decides to drop their 360 price to make the PS3 even more outrageously expensive.

We'll see tomorrow?

You're probably right.

Nintendo, I'm sure, knows what their price minimum is.  They're probably just waiting to see if they can charge more than that and get away with it.

I'm assuming it's anywhere from $150-$200.  No way it'll be $250.

Yep, I agree. They want to see what MS does today. If they drop the price on the 360, then expect the Wii to be $150.....if not than it will be $200.

That would be my guess.

The wiimote is pack with some cool stuff that includes rumble and its own speaker. I would love to be at E3 tomorrow to play a golf game or that sword fighting game with the wiimote. I can foresee long lines for a chance to play with this stuff.

Very good show for Nintendo.

Ok, I thought there was supposed to be one more 'suprise' feature for the Wii to be announced at this conference.  The only new hardware tidbits I picked up:
  • speaker in the wiimote - example, zelda when you shoot an arrow the bow sound comes out the wiimote
  • console is always on and always connected to the internet, new content can be streamed to the machine when youre not actively using it.
  • power consumption is that of a night light

Let's hope this time they get it right, unlike Yoshi's Story for the N64.  That one was a huge disappointment for me. frown

Industry rumor puts it at $249 right now.  Honestly I'd love to see it come out and be $150 but there's really no reason to low-ball the other companies that much.  I could see $200 as not unlikely.

Overall, the conference wasn't centered around any mind blowing announcements but it really was a lot of fun.  The majority of the games they showed looked pretty fun as well, although I was hoping for more 3rd party games (big suprise there).

You know this is fine and dandy for those who want a workout while playing thier console, but for God's sake would they please show someone actually playing while sitting on a couch using the controller like a normal person.  Everyone keeps reassuring that the wild exagerate movements are the exception, that it is more like using a tv remote control in your lap, yet nothing has been shown using the wiimote like this.

If Nintendo doesn't announce $250 as the price for the Wii, I'll eat my left nut.

Any lower is plain ol wishful thinking. Any higher and they're not coming in low enough.

$250 seems awfully high for me. And Nintendo has NEVER come out with that expensive a system before. I hope it is $200 or less, or I think it will not do well.

Well, wasn't the Gamecube $200 at launch? As well as the N64? I'm guessing that's what you mean as far as the pricing goes.

Either way, I'll gladly pay $200 or $250 for a gaming system. My Gamecube most definitely got enough playtime for whatever I paid for it many years ago.

Ah, Super Smash Brothers: Melee... biggrin
