Apologies if this is old, but I don't ever remember seeing screenshots of the DS Lite side by side with the original DS.
Ok, since the pictures were taken down here's a video instead...

Looks cool, but not that much smaller than the original...

The much brighter screen is a big plus, but even the slightly smaller size and weight will make a big difference in stylus + d-pad games like Metroid Prime Hunters and the recently announced Mechassault.

I dunno...I kind of like the look of the old one, though I must admit the navy one they are releasing in Japan is nice looking.

I think the smaller form factor will make a huge difference in FPS games like MP: Hunters. One of my biggest complaints about the thumbstrap is that the unit is too wide for me to keep my thumb centered on the touch screen. If I stretch my hand too far I have to look away from the top screen to figure out what I'm doing. I'm thinking the shorter width will make playing these games a lot easier.

Still, I'm not going to shell out $179 to replace my existing DS, but maybe after a price drop or two it'll be worth it.

Yikes! It's going to cost more than the original DS did at launch?! BOOO!

I like it a lot. The only drawback (well... besides price) is that GBA games stick out some. That's lame.

Looking at the pics, I really like the way the Lite looks closed. It almost makes the original DS look like it isn't put together properly.

I like the look of the new DS Lite.  Very stylish, very sexy, very cool.  If I get enough of a decent trade-in deal for my old DS, I might upgrade.

Well I'm getting a free Nintendo DS Lite on March 2nd because I just bought a 130,000 yen camera for my friend and I used my Bic Camera card which gave me 13% points.  Over $160 worth of free money!!  So I'll be turning all those points in in early March smile
