I looked past the idiotic "360" (still have no clue wtf that means, I mean, if it has anything to do with backwards compatibility change the name please) - I think Wii is fun to say and it's definitely distinguishable  :lol:

It is a big deal. Design and marketing matter. If you don't think the name of the GameCube and it's Fisher Price design didn't affect it sales potential in the US, well...

The Revolution was doomed to a distant third in Western markets. The Nintendo "Wii" will be a complete non-factor.

Well now the Nintendo haters don't have to call it piss - Nintendo went and did it for them.

I even thought the Nintendo Go wasn't a half bad name rumor.  Maybe it will become second nature after time, but for now it seems that Nintendo has been playing this game for years, and they finally got enough points to unlock a whole new level of crazy.

I don't mind it at all, if you really think about it "playstation 2" and "xbox 360" are terrible names as well.  

Wii, sounds like having fun, I find it fitting for Nintendo.  I wish Playstation would name Playstation 3 something better.

I also think the 360 is a stupid name for a console that doesn't have full "360" game capabilities.  What's so 360 about the 360?  Not a whole lot.

Awful, awful name.  I thought it was a bit silly that they stuck with the "Revolution" codename initially but it's really grown on me and, in particular, has had a year to build up brand awareness.  I think it was a mistake to change the name at this point anyway but the name makes it all the worse.
