I read the following article in Japanese, which states that Nintendo already started the cat project and have the cat models, voice data ready.

http://www.nintendo-inside.jp/news/169/16901.html

Apparently, the article is based on the new interview with producer of Nintendogs, Mr. Hideki Konno.  So you can read the full detail in English.

Oops, looks that someone already beats Nintendo to it.   All the Japanese developers are scrambling to put out their own pet game.  Be sure to check out all 6 of them.

I'd definitely be up for Nintendcats, or Nintendocats, or Nintencats, or Nincats, or Cats from Nintendo, or Nintendogs 2: Felines Strike Back, or Nintendo presents: CATS, a Nintendo production.

You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I can just see it now.  They will program it so that they ignore you as soon as you try to start playing with them, but the DS will start to meow in the middle of the night when it feels like it wants some attention.

My cat's pretty friendly and social.  I'd like to think that's in part because we trained him to be that way, but he's also predominantly Abyssinian, which is a very intelligent, social, vocal breed.

Some breeds of cats are just jackasses, but there are friendly breeds, like Abyssinians, that'd probably be good candidates for Super Kitty Brothers 64 or whatever.

I would play as long as it's programmed to allow a few things like, drenching your kitten with water/bathing, because wet cats are hilarious, and there would need to be a million items to distract the cat, and a little better range on the controls, I want to be able to pull a string along and run my cat around the room and into things. Cruel yes, but I love playing with our cat, and we don't hurt her, intentionally.

I agree completely.  I laugh my ass off after my kitty gets a bath.  He ends up looking like a rat for an hour while his fur re-fluffs.
