Looks very nice but not the OMG, Best Graphics on the System, that NG had on Xbox.  Between this, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and DOA 4, I think Team Ninja's art style is one that really doesn't benefit as much in "next-gen" to the extent that some other series have.

That's not showing it in motion. I imagine this game is smooth like buddah.

I'm in.

I want it to kick my grandmother.

She'll kick it back though.

My Nana don't take crap from no ninja. She's from a long line of Pirates.

So why did they make this one for the kids? Personally, I think that's sort of a step backwards.

Using the Ninja Gaiden Sigma engine I see... I didn't like that engine too much when I saw my friend playing it on his PS3.

That video was decidedly meh.

No gameplay footage.  And I'm not sure what the point was of breaking the widescreen view.

I loved this transcript from IGN of NG2 being demoed at the pre-TGS show:

10:03 - 10:10 [Ninja Gaiden 2 Gameplay Description] The game starts. The player jumps into first person to survey the scene. Then runs around. A GROUP OF SIX ENEMIES APPEAR.

The gameplay is so fast that it's hard to watch. Hard to keep up with. Lots of blood. Bodies getting chopped in half. Ryu pins enemis on the ground, thrusts his sword in, and they explode!

After the fight, he shakes the blood of his sword. Then runs up the stairs to the top of a bridge. Lots of eneies appear. Ryu does a ninja arts move. He switches form his rapier sword to a twin blade.

Then to shurikens. Actually, I think the shurikens are equipped as a subweapon. The environments have a lot of destructable elements to them. He's fighting in a fruit stand area, and when the fight ends, all the stands have been destroyed and the fruits are lying on the ground.

Next, Ryu faces off aginst gun-wielding enemies. They have machine guns.

Chopped up bodies are everywhere. They don't seem to be leaving the scene, at least not initially.

Now, he changes to Ryu's claws. Giant winged beasts, three times his size appear. They have green blood.

HOLY *&%# THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING ACTION GAME I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

Boss time. A giant rumbling. A huge beast, with six legs and 10 times Ryu's size rampages onto the scene. He roars, then the demo comes to an end.

definitely more bloody...but i wonder if that's partially a result of using that giant scythe for the demo.  i don't doubt that all weapons will have the blood splatter, but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the dismemberment is a result of that specific weapon.  looks awesome though icon_cool

Gamespot now has the full TGS gameplay demonstration available for viewing.  it's an extended version of the video posted by Ceekay and shows quite a bit more gameplay...almost ten non-stop minutes of badass ninja violence.  the whole thing is pretty awesome and looks incredibly faithful to the previous game.  trust me, you don't want to miss the winged demons near the end of the demo...

I'm in if the difficulty level is managable.  I never finished Ninja Gaiden because it was console-crushing, elmo-hanging, rrmorton-frustrating, golden-cock-monkey tough, and I think the excessive difficulty really detracted from the game.  The gameplay was fantastic once the game "clicked", the visuals were outstanding, and the boss battles were awesome, but the game was just so F-ing hard that I had zero interest in continuing.  Games are supposed to be fun.  Not masochistic.

And because I had already purchased the Ninja Gaiden: Golden Cock Monkey edition, I found it unfair to have to buy another version (Ninja Gaiden: Black) in order to be able to actually play the game.  Although with Ninja Gaiden II on the horizon I may pick up Black in order to finish the game and prepare for the sequel.  As long as it is more managable than the original release.

I agree about the difficulty.  I definitely will never buy this game.  I will rent it just so the monkey of having never tried it will not be jumping on my back, as I do most games at some point, but I swear I will not buy it.  Fell for that twice with the original and then black.  Not again.

And yes, I suck at ridiculously hard frenetic button mashing games.  There I said.  My name is Mike and I can't beat Ninja Gaiden.

So, was Black not much easier on the Ninja Dog setting?  If it is just as hard, then the original Ninja Gaiden will be yet another game that I never finish, as it won't be worth it for me to buy Black if it's just as hard as the original.  It just stopped being fun.
