With Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Batman all under their belts, developer Travelers Tales has proven that popular franchises defined by iconic characters and memorable confrontations are even better when recreated by choking hazards.  Which of the following games would you most like to see them tackle next, and why?

Lego Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Lego Harry Potter

Lego Nightmare on Elm Street

Lego Lord of the Rings

Lego Ghostbusters

Lego Firefly

Lego Matrix

Lego Transformers

Lego Pompeo

I really wanted to vote for Lego Buffy, but, honestly, I think Lego Ghostbusters fits better with the series.  Lego LOTR could also be interesting, but the tone is all wrong.

I think out of the group Lego Harry Potter would be the best. I would be interested in a Ghostbusters game though.

I think they will only do these games for Lego properties that actually exist.  Therefore Harry Potter or Spider Man would be likely.  They also have Spongebob Legos as well.

I think it'd be cool if they did a series of Lego games for the old set groups: Lego Town, Lego Castle, and Lego Space.  (whatever they used to be called.)

And LEGO Halloween gets my vote.

Personally I'd love to see a Lego LotR, but I can't see New Line giving Lucasarts the license to do it.  Lego Matrix could be very cool, especially if they somehow managed to put bullet time in it. slywink I think Lego Harry Potter is the most likely and that's what I voted for.

It's not a LucasArts series.  That's how Warner Bros/DC can lend their characters, too.

They could also base it off of the books instead of the movies, like with LOTRO and the old War of the Ring game.

Yup I was aware of that, I just figured it would be easier for LucasArts to strike a deal for Harry Potter since a licensing deal between Warner Bros and LEGO already exists. My understanding of these games is that an agreement has to be struck between the holder of the publishing or movie rights and LA as well as LEGO.

That's odd.  I don't see the LucasArts logo anywhere on the sites or the game.

LEGO Buffy would be awesome.  Whichever one they do, though, what they really need to do is to improve the gameplay.  So far, the games have been mediocre games carried by the license and how they used it.

I would love Lego LOTR, but as someone else mentioned there aren't any lego sets for LOTR, so it isn't likely to happen. I would like a Lego Spongebob game, since I am a fan of the cartoon. Harry Potter could be fun, but I assume they were have to make two games to get all seven books in there.

I think Lego Star Wars is still my favorite, but I am enjoying Lego Batman more than Indy.

I voted for LOTR but the Kotaku rumor mill says Harry Potter is next.

Yeah, I've heard that rumor too.  I think the problem I'd have with Lego Harry Potter is that the characters would all feel pretty much the same.

In Lego Star Wars, a lot of the puzzles are set up around the fact that one character can do something the others can't.  A Jedi uses his force powers to create a ramp so R2D2 can fly over the chasm and activate a grappling hook point for Han Solo, etc.  Everyone fits into neat archetypes that provide varied gameplay while remaining true to the source material.

In Harry Potter, everyone's a wizard.  The book series makes it clear that Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood are practically polar opposites, but in terms of gameplay, wouldn't Lego Hermione and Lego Luna have effectively the same abilities?  I guess you could shoehorn in some restrictions, like preventing anyone except Lego Harry from riding a broom, but the more arbitrary rules the developer has to make up, the less intuitive and authentic the experience will be.

I like Lego LOTR because the characters practically write themselves: Lego Legolas can shoot distant targets, Lego Pippin can slip into tiny spaces, Lego Gimli can smash apart rocks and other obstacles, Lego Tom Bombadil can mince about and derail the storyline, etc.  Package all your characters together in a series of levels based on the most memorable parts of their journey, and it seems like such a natural fit! nod

If they can do it with Indiana Jones and give them all different abilities, I think Harry Potter would be a piece of cake.

Characters can use a shovel for digging things up, some of the female characters can jump higher, Thuggees can access secret passage ways behind statues, some can solve hieroglyphic puzzles, and Willie can scream and shatter glass.

Some of the characters in the game have phobias that have a pretty sizable impact on gameplay. Indiana Jones' famous fear of snakes, for instance, is so strong that when he approaches one, or hundreds, he covers his eyes and walks around in little circles moaning until they move away. I think Willie is afraid of bugs.

I've heard that, too.  I can see this being a download pack for Rock Band or something someone's goofing with in-house.  I can also see a line of Rock Band Legos.  But releasing a full game of this doesn't really make any sense.  Even if it's very specifically marketed at kids.  Actually, never mind.  That could work.  Still would like it as DLC, though.

I really don't even understand what Lego Rock Band means.  Is it seriously just Rock Band with all the superfluous, non-gameplay related graphics replaced by Lego characters?  As long as we're jamming together completely incompatible franchises, why not queue up Metal Gear Solid: Rock Band or Lego How I Met Your Mother while we're at it? disgust
