I think this joystiq video kind of fits here.


For me it is Uncharted.  Nothing has come closer to being a must buy for me.   Of course I find the completely ridiculous amount of violence to be silly but it was still fun.

I guess it depends on your definition of "generation" but either way I'm still sticking with:

DIABLO

D2 is still my all-time favorite game, and in spite of being disappointed in design directions in D3, alot of that was forgiven with the console release, and I suspect the upcoming PS4 version may ultimately become the crowning achievement of the franchise.

For me it's the Shin Megami Tensei Series. From SMT Imagine Online for the PC -to- SMT Strange Journey on the DS, I've enjoyed those games as much or more than any series. Close behind would be the Halo, Mass Effect, Bioshock,  and Tomb Raider series.
