New Xbox Experience

Some GT members are reporting RRoD occurring only after the update, and both of my 360's have suddenly become much crankier, also only since the update - I wouldn't doubt that any new lag could be due to the Brave New Experience.  Unless, of course, that "custom triple core machine" (whatever that is, lol) should not be lagging for any reason.

I guess I need to get a Gold Card too.  I've been leaning towards getting Left for Dead for the computer, but I guess the Xbox version runs as smoothly?  Anybody still playing?

This interface is extremely confusing to me. I guess if I knew the terminology I'd be fine but it seems like they have hidden the simplest things like "change user" and "Play game".

I'll probably get the hang of it after a few days but wow, not a great first impression.

Overall the integration of the content seems smoother than on the Wii or PS3, but I could really go for a "simple" interface with just my games and settings in it. Hit me with ads when I've clicked something indicating I'm shopping.

I hadn't thought of that - a new user being introduced to the 360 by the Fancy New Blades of Death... Try what many of us are doing:  hit the big silver "X" button on the center of your controller.  It brings up a less fancy, but more user-friendly version of the interface.

Yeah, I think the old interface (which I used for all of five days) is better too, but I don't hate the new one.  I use a mixture of the main interface and the guide button to do what I want.

I do like the new interface, for a few minutes at a time... very shiny and nice - 'til you need to use it, of course.

question about netflix...will it only show the first five playable movies from your main netflix queue? I have way more than 5 watch it now movies in my queue yet only 5 are shown on XBL

I agree about the sound after you save an avatar, very reminiscent of the Wii.

And Netflix will only show movies in your Instant Watch Queue, but it should show all of them.

Yeah, sometimes they do that for whatever reason.  I tried watching Dead Like Me but all the episodes aren't available.

We're getting a few more items, at least - but do you know what I find funniest about the choices you get for your avatar?  At least two of the categories you can select, show an item representing that category, but it is not a choice once you enter the category.  Take shoes... the icon representing them, on my 360 anyway (female character) - are brown sneakers.  Once you enter the area, you see that they are not available to actually select to use!  White sneakers are it...  Also, the lightly shaded glasses that are shown to represent eye wear, are exactly what I'd want, but there's no choice for them in that category either. 

I can understand if someone wants to look just like Superman, with Krypton in the background, along with Jor-el and Superdog, et al - that is what might be a paid item... but, brown (or blue, green, whatever) sneakers should be part of the basics, imo.
