I bought directly from MS, I spend a lot directly with them.  They should just send me an f'n controller and then let me send them the broken one back on their dime.

That sucks. I reported my defective (non Day One) controller on Wednesday with Amazon and they had a new one on my doorstep this afternoon.

Reading this page of the thread is there anyone here who hasn't had a hardware issue with the Xbone yet? Whether it's the controller or the disc drive?

I had an OS issue solved by a quick reboot (nothing different than a PC), no hardware issues that I can remember.  If I did they weren't major enough to do so.

Actually, I already mention problems in DR3 with my controller - I think my day one controller's shoulder button may be flaky (more testing required) as I had no problems using my second controller in crafting.

Last night I had problems with making purchases in the store. I then tried to get into a game with Eno9, and we couldn't hear each other. My Smartglass was also not seeing the console on the network. Rebooted mine, and everything was fine.

As for software, the only other "bug" I've run into is sometimes, while I'm busy switching games and the like, I've had 3/4s of my pins disappear. Restarting, or simply playing a game for a while and they all came back.

Now Teggy, look, I know what I said in that steam gift cut you deep, and I'm sorry.

Friends? slywink

That's not the point. It's there in the past consoles and the PS4, surprised to not find it on the XBone. Found something googling around saying that it would allegedly be in 'the next update' so I guess we'll see.

system update hitting at 8pm ET tonight.

Quote
A. If you are using the Xbox One “Instant On” (the low power state that allows you to instantly power up your console by saying “Xbox On”), your console automatically checks for updates when you turn it off. Once we make the update available (on Tuesday, December 10th, 5:00 PM PT) this means the following will happen:

Your console will automatically download the update after you turn it off. Once the update has been downloaded in the background, your console will power completely down. Please note: You will need to manually power your console back on after the update has been downloaded. Because the update will power your console completely down, the “Xbox On” voice command won’t be available until after the update is fully installed.
When you turn the console on you’ll see the update being applied. After that, your Xbox One will reboot. You’ll know the update is installing when you see the Xbox logo on the green background (like at the top of this post.) This can take anywhere from 2-5 minutes. Once the update has finished installing, you’ll boot to the Home screen and you’re all set.
Don’t worry, if you are out of town for the holidays, you console also does regular checks for updates and will download it in the background even if you have not used you Xbox One in a couple of days.

B. If you are not using the Xbox One “Instant On” feature, you will be required to download and apply this update after Thursday, December 12th at 2:00 AM PT.

This update addresses the following:

Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
Addresses dashboard performance for some users
Offers improvements for Xbox One’s TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some users

I wish there was a way to just tell the system to log me in every time.  It never seems to recognize me when I turn it on, probably because I just the controller and then walk out of the room or sit in a chair out of view of the Kinect, so every time I have to manually log myself in.  I'm the only goddamn person playing this console, why can't things just work like they used to?

Perhaps when you sign in, go to the "didn't recognize me" option every time.

I found that after a couple times, it always catches me.

The other thing is to run through the Kinect settings. Green floor setup should be at the right height.

Had my first 'issue' last night when I purchased Peggle 2. After it was downloaded, I launched it and was a little freaked out to see it blank the screen for a couple of beats and then just go back to the 'desktop' or Home or whatever. A restart of the console didn't change the behavior - launch, wait, CTD. Ended up uninstalling, then had to quit out of the Store as it still said Play, then I could Install it again and then finally... it worked.  icon_confused

Wow, Microsoft appears to have completely written off the Nordic countries (and perhaps others) for the Xbox One. The console won't launch over here until the third quarter next year according to this report.

Well, they do make the decision rather easy then. I think a lot of that has to do with all the extra content besides being a gaming console it has to be able to do. The Xbxo360 never really good any of those features launched in Denmark at least, and I'm pretty sure that is the issue here as well.

Well considering the 360 and PS3 launched an entire year apart, I'm not sure it's necessarily that big a deal from a 10-year lifecycle point of view. No sense rushing a product that simply doesn't work in the market.

yeah, true on that.  but when have they not launched a product that needed patches/service pack/revised model?

it's the new norm of all hardware projects and software these days.  I'm surprised they didn't just put a big ol 'coming soon' sign on it.  good on them for waiting until the better launch experience can happen rather then shoot their initial reception in the foot.

Had an a-ha moment last night while playing with the  Game DVR function.  You can basically leave it running in the background and it will continually record and when something cool happens you can snap the DVR, capture from 30 sec up to 5 mins and continue on.   This works so much better for me than saying Xbox Record That cause it never appeared the right amount of stuff I wanted

For some reason, my XBO never auto downloaded the updates, even though I have it set to go into standby and download updates automatically.  This morning when I turned it on, it said it was update time and needed to download the 300 MB patch.  I even tried switching the settings to power save, reboot, and turn back to standby...tried unchecking and checking the auto download...nothing made it grab the update.  What's up with that?

Well, there was a way to check version, so I know for a fact it didn't until today when it prompted me to download it.

Your power brick light should remain white if you go into low power mode.  If it turns orange you the unit is in energy saving mode

Yeah, that was another way I knew it didn't do the patch.  My power supply was always white.  When the autoupdate happened for people, they would see yellow on their bricks and that is why you couldn't turn on the XBox with your voice after it downloaded it.
