Damn, camera angles looked straight outta Ico's opening movie.  WHICH is a good thing.  Game looks real nice.  It looks tough as hell to fight those huge bosses, though!

The music in that trailer is excellent, especially the music that plays during the first half of the trailer.

Isn't the music in the first half straight out of Ico?  I could swear I remember hearing it before...

yeah, i know zelda & ffxii are on the horizon, but if this game can deliver (& i'm pretty sure it will), it'll easily be a 'game of the year' -level release, simply by being as fresh & out of left field as it is...

there's no other upcoming game i'm looking forward to more...

Hmm, didn't ring a bell for me (though haven't played Ico in a looong time), but wouldn't doubt some simularity at least, since it's the same team.

Can't wait for this, definitely among my most anticipated this year.

First God of War and then this one.   I think those two will compete for game of the year on the PS2.  Can't wait.  Will most definitely preorder. I loved the music and the epicness of the bosses.  Just plain WOW.  Love that kind of thing.

This is shaping up to be a hell of a year for gaming....

I wish more developers would take chances like this - Ico, Animal Crossing, Katamari Damacy, etc. should have proved by now that innovative games will sell as much as big budget FPS/RPGs etc.

I don't have the numbers off-hand, but I'm pretty sure the sales for most of these niche games don't even come close to most of the triple-A titles.  From what I understand, they tend to make more money (comparatively) simply because they don't cost as much to produce, and they don't have the massive marketing budget that the top titles get.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more innovative titles.  But I don't think they're really all that successful.

Yep, sadly that's how it still works. These niche titles don't sell much in comparison.

Animal Crossing - 750,000+ sold in US alone (also sold strong in Japan)
Ico - 80k in the US (not that great)
Katamari Damacy - 120k in US; 300k+ worldwide (sold out its initial run in a few days in the US)
Viewtiful Joe - 500k+

Decent sales for 'niche' games....  If there is one things we can pull from these numbers, it is this:

ANIMAL CROSSING AND VIEWTIFUL JOE ARE THE BEST GAMES EVER MADE

Seriously.

Unfortunatelely for Viewtiful Joe, VJ2 bombed horribly on both Cube and PS2.  Not sure we'll see any more titles in that series.

Does this game have any connection to Ico other than the developer?  I'd heard there was going to be some sort of sequel to Ico.  So, does this game take place in the same setting as Ico?

Heheh, a good an answer as any at this point.

The artistic and musical style look similar enough.  That girl looks a lot like Yorba and that guy could be the horned boy all grown up.  Since he lost both horns on the island.

There was something about Yorba not being able to live anywhere but the island, so he could be looking for some way to save her.

Their animations are just wonderful.
