They're very nice, but I wonder why they keep releasing the same trailers with a little bit of new stuff added.  They've been showing the Lightning on the train sequence since the game was announced.  You'd figure they'd be far enough along to show off some other parts of the game.

That's kind of Square's MO.  For the longest time they were just showing the same areas of FFXII over and over again, along with new FMV from the introduction.

Looks like the same crap they've been doing for years, and consequently my interest has dropped quite a bit.  I didn't even bother trying XII, so I doubt I'll bother with either of these when I do end up getting a PS3.  For right now though, there's still nothing Sony's showed me that makes me want to lay down the cash.  Here's hoping that changes soon and they show me something I simply must have, then I'll pick one up.  Until then, the 360 is doing just fine.

Oh dude, am total still day 1 on FF. FF12 is only getting better in my mind in retrospect.

One trailer is 100% CGI while the other is 98%?

I agree.  I just am not impressed by cutscenes anymore.  ANY game can do those nice nowadays.  I want to see gameplay.

I'm all about it.  FFXII was great and i'll be all over FFXII.  I probably won't get a PS3 until it or another rpg I love comes out exclusively for the PS3 though.

FFXIII is the next main series FF game.  It will feature the active time battle system that the series has used several times before, but it's supposed to be faster in XIII.  FF Versus XIII is an action-RPG designed by the Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children teams.  You're supposed to be able to pull off moves like those shown in the Advent Children movie, like running and fighting your way up the side of a skyscraper    They're set in the same overall "universe" but will have different storylines, characters, and settings.

There was also word that Versus 13 was supposed to include multiplayer.

The FF13 normal trailer has some gameplay footage when she's fighting those footsoldiers and lion-like monsters in that tunnel and you see the hitpoint damage indicators pop up.  Of course, that's still just battle animations, so it's kind of a cutscene too.

I like those other games for the PS# shown.  i just don't think they were enough to put me over the edge to buy one.  A GTAIV exclusive would have been, but it's on the 360 also.  it's gonna take FFXIII or a new mana game, or maybe White Knight story.  Or a next gen Xenogears, oooohh...  Why is it taking so long for the PS3 to get these titles out there!

Anyway back on track.  Loved both trailers and can't wait.

yeah, still waiting for the games.  Versus sounds like it has potential, but then again so did Dirge of Cerberus and I was disappointed in that one- the camera was just too wonky and got too irritating after awhile.

Wow, neither of those previews did anything for me, and I'm a Final Fantasy slut. It's just action without context, no real gameplay info, or anything to emotionally invest me in the games at all. It was about as interesting to me as watching a Heavenly Sword preview: i.e. pretty uninteresting. Hopefully when we start learning more about the games we'll find out some compelling stuff in either gameplay or story.

Well, FF6 kind of initially presents itself as having a female lead but later turns into pretty much a straight up ensemble piece.  FFX-2, of course, features all female protagonists.

Well I count that one as some kind of off-shoot, not technically part of the FF 1-12 (minus 11) series.

I think Square Enix originally said that Lightning (the woman in the trailer) was not the main character, but I believe they've since changed that and she is now the main character.  The only other two characters I know of are the blond guy at the end of the trailer and a pink-haired girl with a bow that has been shown in privately-shown trailers.

Well, I am impressed by cutscenes. They are a big part of a JRPG, and these look awesome.
