Let me pick my Jaw up off of the floor.... that said... these two feature make me say OMFGTGIGFR...(for those that can't understand my silly letters... that is Oh My F'in God, This Game Is Gonna Fucking Rock.) Xbox LIVE support offers cooperative and competitive campaigns for up to 12 players at once. Full customisation options present users with thousands of different ways to equip and personalize their mechs Edit to add... the shots from Sonic are incredible too... http://consolegold.com/screenshots/index.php?GameID=4107

Go look at the full screenshot gallery... it may be a mix of some CGI and gameplay... Would say these are gameplay for sure which are still very impressive...

Big mecha senses tingling!! While I didn't consider MechAssault, MechAssault II, and Steel Battalion enough to pick up an Xbox, seeing this in action might just change my mind on a core system.

I love it! It reminds me of Front Mission! I love those games.
Now I want to see it in action though. I have found that screenshots for the next generation are always jaw dropping.

Is is just me, or does this thing look like it's got a Galaxy starship (from the original Privateer) stuck, upside down, on it's head?

This was posted on Team XBOX... SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA, Europe Ltd. today announced CHROMEHOUNDS for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This squad-based action title puts gamers in control of giant mechanized military weapons of war. With a strong focus on cooperative and competitive online gameplay, the game is sure to satisfy players looking for a deep, involving Xbox Live experience.
Developed by Tokyo-based FROM software - the creative team responsible for the popular Armored Core and Otogi series - CHROMEHOUNDS offers an intense, photo realistic look at war from the cockpits of colossal metal vehicles. These heavily-armed weapons of war, called HOUNDS, dominate ground battles during warfare in the near-future. Squads of HOUNDs take to the field in international factions; cooperating with and complementing each other in terms of firepower, range of movement, and abilities. Ok... a few things stand out here... first is that this is by the people responsable for Armored Core... which has always been a tremendous series. Second... the Otogi series... personally I felt that Otogi had stunning visuals, so it makes me wonder how much is actually CGI.... alot of this may actually be in game footage... oh and later in the article it says it is slated for a spring 2006 release.

After reading the title of the thread, I thought this was going to be microsoft's answer to Nintendogs.

yes, it's also coming out for the Playstation 3. Where can I confirm this? I'll add the game record immediately. Otherwise I gotta chase down the folks at Sega...

Well buggerit. I was going to link you to VE3D's article, where Andy had posted the press release, saying it was for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
Then I started scanning the actual press release, and saw no mention of PS3. So it may actually be a 360 exclusive after all. Unless Andy got some added info from elsewhere.
Now I'm thoroughly confused.

They lost me. It sounds like this will be an on-line game with - at best - a flimsy single player game.

I know Sega stated the new Sonic would be on both next gen systems, so since there is no mention in the info about this I would guess it is an exclusive. I am giddy thinking about this game being played coop on live.

Dude this looks awesome!! I am interested in a strong single player component, but I am sure we have time to see how that develops. Either way, this looks like the next gen Mech stuff I am looking for.

Maybe the confusion came from this paragraph on Gamespot's news item: Last but not least, Sega today dated Chromehounds, its forthcoming mech combat game for the Xbox 360. In development at Tokyo-based From Software (Otogi, Armored Core), the game will ship for Microsoft's next-gen console in spring 2006, around the same time as the PlayStation 3 launch. Someone may have mistaken the "around the same time as" to be "also on the". It looks like it is 360 exclusive, at least for now.
