This looks PHENOMENAL.   I have no Earthly clue how it'll play but I enjoyed Heavy Rain quite a bit, so I have high hopes for this one.

Yeah, for as weird and often janky Cage's games are, he does things that no one really does. I'm in, day one.

I am going to wait before i get this one,I loved Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy),so I leapt when Heavy Rain was released, only to find out i was the only one on the planet who hated the game

His games always look great, but if it has me brushing my teeth or drying myself after a shower by shaking the controller then i will likely be out

Gamespot is giving away early access demo codes on their Facebook page, ahead of the demo's release date of October 1.

If you liked Heavy Rain(which i am guessing you did),you'll cream over this

Unlike everybody else I thought Heavy Rain was one of my worse gaming experiences on the PS3,exactly the same stuff here, gameplay hasn't changed one bit

Yeah, the gameplay aspect is pretty iffy with his games, but he does come up with some pretty awesome scenarios between all the QTE fests. He does stuff that you just don't see in games, and yet is definitely interesting story based gameplay.

In particular from Heavy Rain:
Spoiler for Hiden:
I loved the sequence where the police were coming and you had to remember everything you did in a room to wipe away all the evidence before leaving.

Or trying to remember exactly what clothes your kid was wearing after he disappears.

However, the action elements tend to be stupid, and investigation stuff usually falls flat. Not to mention his stories. Have always taken a turn that ends up worse than the later M Night movies.

The reviews i have seen for this is getting some very below average scores

Eurogamer,CVG and IGN all gave this game a 6/10

I have not had time to look at any other reviews yet

I've been hearing that there's even less interesting scenarios and choices than in Heavy Rain. Or that there's less interesting stuff to do within those scenarios.

from the GT review:

It can be a bit hard to read at times, though itís practically impossible to fail, and you can leave the controller untouched for large sections of the game and still end up progressing the plot just the same.

Yeah, there's nothing even as remotely engrossing as the trials from Heavy Rain.

I've played this for about 3 hours now, and I'm enjoying it a lot. I haven't read any of the reviews (trying to avoid spoilers, even the mild ones), so I don't really know what people are complaining about. Maybe they expected another Heavy Rain, another game inspired by Seven? That's certainly not what we got here. This is much closer to Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy in tone.

The game feels a bit easier than Heavy Rain, mostly because of the somewhat simplified controls, and also because you aren't typically asked to hold more than 2 buttons at once. Not that it hurts the game. Heavy Rain got a bit too difficult for me, which was to a large degree a consequence of my body reacting negatively to adrenaline (seriously. I get special anesthetics without adrenaline at the doctor and dentist).

The story is very interesting. I have no idea where it's going, but there's already been a twist I certainly wasn't expecting from the previews.

I played for about an hour last night and really enjoyed it thus far.  The visuals, facial graphics and "acting" are top notch.  It's no secret there's not a lot of traditional "gameplay" but I consider it's just a different style of game.

I get the sense there really isn't much wiggle room to influence the storyline, particularly since much of it is told in flashback form, but it's still fun to get yourself into it.

Spoiler for Hiden:
For example, I tried hard to get her laid at the party flashback; that guy was a cutie.  But alas all I got was a kiss and a cheap Carrie moment.  I was hoping I could kill someone or rape the cutie but maybe I should be playing GTA V for that.

Oh yeah, that reminds me. The graphics are really sharp. They feel 1080p (with black borders at the top or bottom) even though I suspect they might not be. The framerate is also very smooth, and the overall effect is very impressive. The music is also awesome. smile

It's definitely 720p, but yeah much of it feels like 1080p, particularly the facial details on Ellen Page.  They also did a remarkable job with creating the look of the younger versions of Ellen.

I was blown away by the younger Ellen Page in the demo.

Amazon is running a promotion. If you trade in $20 in games, you get a $40 credit toward Two Souls. Based upon that I decided to Pick this one up. so far I'm very pleased with the purchase. Although the gameplay is rather spartan, the story and visuals are very well done. Adventure game fans should definitely take the plunge.

The reviews on this one scared me off from the purchase; but I'd been looking forward to it a bunch, so went the Redbox route intead.  About 3 hours in, I'm enjoying the atmosphere of it a lot.  I can understand the criticism that your choices don't so much seem to really impact the storyline (yet?), but the voyage itself has been cool.

Wow, there's a huge difference in the size of these scenes, unlike Heavy Rain where every scene was of similar length. I just had one scene that lasted about 2 minutes, followed by another scene that took more than an hour and felt like a side quest from an RPG in scope.

Finished this this weekend. Not too many people played it, huh? They sold a million copies, so someone did.

I had a similar experience to the other people in this thread. Story was engrossing, but gameplay was kind of nonexistent outside of the stealth mission. Surprising coming from Heavy Rain which had some basic puzzles at least.

I do love me some Ellen Page, though. Even as a videogame character she's adorable.
