For what it's worth, after the advice given here to get the key card first, I made it to the room while only killing one runner and missed the bloater all together.  I sprinted like hell though.

If you're fighting after turning on the generator, you're doing it wrong. Just run!

There were no difficulty tweaks.

Also, you've played through most of the game already, so you know what the bloater entails.

And yes, the framerate and input lag does make a difference. Especially against bloaters, who's complicated animation, high poly count, and ability to toss out giant clouds of FPS dropping particle effects affects things a bit. slywink

I've found I can only play this game an hour at a time, tops. Any more than that and it's just too stressful.  icon_biggrin

I find the same. After an hour I'm tense/burned out and I need to play something else.

Wow, I thought I was the only wuss when it came to this game  icon_razz

As great a game as it is, it's probably the most relentlessly dark and depressing game I've played in a long time.

I don't find it to be that dark... it has a sense of humor about it that manages to lighten the mood for me.

Just left the high school portion. Intense!

I'm forgetting completely about using the bow. Anyone have luck with it? I know I should be using it more.

Thoughts?

The bow is one of the most awesome weapons in the game, so you should really learn to use it. It has three advantages:

1) It's silent. You can kill people from a distance without alerting others nearby.
2) You can recycle ammo. You can often, but not always, retrieve your arrows from the corpses of your targets. This makes the bow more ammo effective than you'd expect.
3) From stealth, it's almost always a one-hit kill, unless you hit armor or a particularly tough enemy.

It's not all that good if the enemy knows where you are, but up until that point, the bow is your friend.

Once upgraded, I think it's the best in the game.  Wish I had used it more my first play through and I use it all I can now.

I'm pretty certain I've killed clickers with the bow, maybe not always with one hit though.

Even from stealth, it'll usually take 2 hits to kill a clicker with the bow, or one to the head. Not sure how many while alerted. However, clickers squirm around a lot while walking, making them difficult to headshot with the slow firing bow.

The bow is great for getting early, long range stealth kills while sneaking around.

I think I'm getting close to the end.  This is easily one of the best games I've ever played.  I wish I knew how close i am, but don't want to look it up as I don't want to know anything at all.

I agree 100%. Can't wait to replay which will happen very soon. Between d3, this and prolly destiny I'll be very busy over the winter. Which is awesome since we are moving into a house soon and I'm gonna watch what I spend more.

Congrats on the house!  We are also moving.  We're closing on a house this Thursday and moving in on Sunday.  We've out grown our first home so we've up sized.  I'm also renting out my current home and she'll move in a week from tomorrow.

Made it through the hotel sequence last night and I must admit that I was terrified but somehow fluked my way through it.

Just met Carl and his dad from Lost  ninja

Super happy I'm playing this.

The hotel sequence is one of my favorite combat areas to play.  There's so many ways you can go about it.

Have you guys tried the multiplayer now that you've finished the single player?

It's incredibly good, one of the best multiplayer modes that really flows out from the single player experience.

That said, there are some people that are way too good at the game, but it's still a fun mode to try if you have a good team.

I haven't quiet beaten the game but I must be so very close.  I plan on trying out the multiplayer before jumping into the dlc.  Colin at IGN doesn't like MP at all and he adamantly stated that TLOU Mp is the best he has played.

Also be sure to avoid reading about that one movie where they build a fake zombie suit to infiltrate a zombie camp and it turns out the suit is infected and their farmer friend they just made turns into a zombie, because the plots are nearly identical.

I'm trying to remember, was this where the shotgun-weilding infected mama boss was with the clicker dog who turned out to be the lost dog of the hero?

Not as horrible as those zombies that form together into one giant zombie!  Even with Ellie in control after she harnesses her mutant psychic abilities, that whole sequence gave me nightmares.

Actually, that was Darren McGavin, TV's Kolchak.  He was also in the X Files ep they were watching, so it was very meta.

Can't believe it turned out that Joel was an infected ninja the whole time.
