Ah, but in the newest game, Sam has better stuff, and he's always had lethal weapons.  He can see through walls in the new game, something the predator can do only if the wall is thin enough for his heat vision.  Guess it depends on whether they know the other is coming.

Also, the Starship Enterprise could clearly beat a Predator space ship, even cloaked.

The new Aliens vs Predator 2 will not be released in Germany

Someone finally said F U to the German 'change this and this and this' commission . Australia may be next to get the shaft from Sega. YAY!

As the old story goes, it looks like another game is going to have issues in Germany (and probably Australia too for good measure , but this time it's the publisher that is going to just jump straight to the chase. PC Games Hardware reports that Sega will not publish AvP in Germany since the game might not get an official rating. Sega does not offer any games in Germany that don't get a rating, and it has already been stated that Aliens vs. Predator will not be adjusted for the German market.

I loved Monolith's AvP2 (the Marines campaign especially) in 2001, but I despised the disappointing "not by Monolith" Primal Hunt expansion. I'd rather just have one big grand Space Marines game with some variety (hopefully Gearboxx delivers that some day, though who knows if there'll be a PC version).

I think people often DO buy games in February cause it's freezing and miserable outside most places. No better time to hibernate.

I've wanted a pure human side game since AvP2. That game holds up well even today. I just replayed it last year I think. The marine campaign is the scariest of them all and so atmospheric .  For the first part of the game you are just alone out there. You never see an alien and thats one of the scariest parts to me. I kept looking around and behind me that whole way. I saw someone else say they emptied a clip into an alien only to see it was a steam pipe after the ammo ran out That was the human side fun of AvP2.

That was me. 

It was a scripted event where the pipe and some cables crashed through the ceiling.  You just knew the aliens were gonna pop out at any moment and when this event triggered and the pipe and cables were perfectly placed so that it looks like an alien came crashing through the ceiling well, I couldn't help but pour fire into the thing.

imho, the only Chez part of AvP2 was that they initially make you think it might be a cool "small-squad shooter" (maybe something akin to Star Wars Republic Commando), and then the game environment conveniently separates you and puts an end to THAT dream. 

Yeah the game did a good job (and arguably better than the post-Aliens film sequels) of making you jump, and feel watched, like there was always something around the corner ready to jump you. I don't know that the AI was all that great, but the placement of enemies and the use of shadows/music/sounds to build suspense and make your imagination play tricks on you was great.  All this talk might make me want to dig it out and re-visit it (at least the Marines campaign).

Also some info on versions. Looks like 3 versions....

The game will be available in three editions: Standard, Survivor and Hunter. The Survivor Edition comes in a steel case and features a code for downloadable multiplayer maps, which will be available post-launch.

The Hunter Edition will also contain the maps, as well as a posable facehugger model, a Weyland Yutani sleeve badge and a 3D lenticular postcard.

yeah, it was up pretty much the same day.  I've got too much on my plate right now to give it a spin, plus IIRC it was horribly hard.

I had to snag AvP classic 2000 for the $5.  The graphics are definately from that era but still seem to hold up as I am still too much of a wuss to play in long runs.  It is still one of the most scariest games I have ever played.  The sounds and atmosphere are still incredible and yes, a very difficult game.  It does run at my desktop resolution of 1920x1080.  It doesn't support MP (yet.). Definately worth the purchase.

I remember the Marine parts being really hard, but the rest was doable.  The Marine was just so dark I couldn't tell what the hell was going on, iirc.

sure, every game has a survival mode, but how many got aliens that can crawl on whatever surface is available?  one moment you're fine, then you're getting pounced from above and it's game over man, GAME OVER!
