Eurogamer

Quote
"Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC," Remedy's head of franchise development Oskari Hakkinen told Eurogamer.

"The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually show you."

Hakkinen revealed that "a slice" of the Remedy team has been working on this new game for "the last months".

"It's something that'll definitely give more to the Wake fans out there, but just as importantly, this instalment will also give an opportunity for players who aren't familiar with the franchise to finally jump on board," he added.

"We can't wait to show you more, bear with us. Release dates, platforms and pricing are unconfirmed as of yet, but Fall 2011 is probably a good guess."

I really enjoyed Alan Wake, but hated the ending so much that I instantly returned it to Blockbuster right after beating it instead of downloading the DLC which I had been planning on doing.

LOL,i bought the game completed it and traded it the week later...kept the DLC card and then a few months later my sister bought the game and i borrowed it off her and used the DLC card

so if it isn't a sequel this one what is it?..a prequel? a Bright Falls(Twin Peaks style)game? is Al even in it?

I thought the first was okay. It got boring and repetitive pretty fast. The convoluted ending left me pretty unsatisfied as well. I liked the episodic storytelling mechanic though.

Maybe it'll become Bioshock 2.5 and we get to play as Thomas Zane and walk around in the diver suit. Or maybe it'll be an on-rails shooter with one person controlling Alan's flashlight arm and other controlling his gun arm.

As long as we're not playing as the damned agent guy, Barry Wheeler.  That would be worse than playing as Shaun in Assassin's Creed.  Seriously, I would vote for Barry as most annoying video game character of 2010, I think.

XBLA:ALan Wake:Night Springs?

okay,so it may not be Bright Falls, but how about Night Springs?.which was the Twilight Zone type TV show in the Alan Wake game,so there could be room for much bizarre stuff

Quote
This rumour of Alan Wake: Night Springs for XBLA would tie in nicely with reports from last week confirming that Alan Wake is indeed set to return, but not for a sequel. "Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake instalment will not be Alan Wake 2. And neither will it be DLC," teased Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen. "The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually show you."

stay tuned to The VGA's

Quote
This year's show promises to follow in that tradition with appearances by Hideo Kojima, who will reveal "the truth" about Metal Gear Solid: Rising with a spectacular world premiere, the announcement of a new project from the folks behind Mass Effect 3 and our first look at the "all-new adventure" starring Alan Wake.

EDIT:sod that, according to Eurogamer it will be revealed on Monday

Quote
ORIGINAL STORY: A follow-up to Xbox 360 survival horror Alan Wake will be unveiled on Monday, along with a new title from BioWare.

Quote
UPDATE: GameInformer's Jim Reilly just Tweeted, "Quick clarification re: Alan Wake VGA announcement: It's a standalone download game through Xbox Live, not Alan Wake 2."

The new superbreed of US troops, the Giraffe Soldier, is feared everywhere!

Anyways, really looking forward to this - I actually really liked Alan Wake for what it tried to do, even though some of the mechanics got a bit tired towards the end. The beginning was a treat to play through.

Confirmation of a new Alan Wake game for Xbox Live Arcade didn't go down all that well with some fans, despite the fact major details of the project have yet to be officially announced.

Developer Remedy came out fighting for the game, saying it will be "structured like a full release complete with a pretty damn impressive storyline", and now, ahead of its debut showing at next weekend's VGAs, event organiser Geoff Keighley has given it his vote of confidence.

"I've seen the game, I've seen the trailer we're showing and even though it's going to be a downloadable game, it's not a small game," he told Major Nelson.

"I mean, it effectively is, I think, Alan Wake 2 when you really look at it and look what they're doing with that game. It's really ambitious, beautiful technology and I think people are going to be really excited about it.

"So I think one thing that's happening and will happen over the next year is the idea of downloadable games will change and it won't necessarily mean small experience."

The VGAs will take place on December 10 with Metal Gear Solid: Rising, BioShock Infinite and BioWare's mystery game set to be shown off, among others.

EDIT:

Alan Wake's American Nightmare is an extremely impressive experiment, created with the aim of releasing an essentially fully-fledged retail game through Xbox LIVE Arcade. American Nightmare absolutely succeeds in this regard, with action-packed gameplay, a cool theme, and an exciting Arcade Action mode. However, as a follow-up to the awesome original game, the story comes up short and the whole experience lacks suspense and thrills.

Gamesradar has apparently given it a 8/10 while OXM have given it a 8.5/10

I decided to give the original a second chance on the PC and I'm enjoying it a bit more this time around-  I bet they use the PC version's sale as a gauge to see if this makes the PC at all.

Just finished this, took about 5-6 hrs

I quite enjoyed it,if you liked the first game then you will like this

There are no difficulty adjustments

found about 40/51 manuscript pages as well(EDIT:scratch that,i went back and collected all the collectables,Videos, radio shows, pages and weapons),and i had a look into the arcade game mode, but its not really my thing(survive for 10 minutes against the Taken on different maps)

make sure you stick around for the end of the end credits,as there are 2 things of interest

Spoiler for Hiden:
1-'Alan Wake's Journey through the night will continue'

2-(Very)short cutscene

was it worth 1200 points?,well depends how you look at it,i got 5-6 decently enjoyable hours out of it,but then again it's unlikely i will play the game again until i do another run of AW games, and that will probably be for the run up for if Alan Wake 2 or maybe even Alan Wake's XBLA Nightmare part 2 are due out

One word of warning, I played the demo for about half an hour and when I bought it, it wiped all of the pages I'd found, both from my list and from the world.  I had about six at that point, and the game told me I had none, plus I couldn't go back and recollect them.

The big issue here is that the pages are more than just collectibles.  You need them to unlock weapon chests.

That's terrible that you can't go back and collect them, update needed for that

the pages also give some good background for the story and maybe even clues for later scenes
