How is your PS3 connected to your HDTV?

Are you using a composite cable (yellow, white, and red connectors), a component (Red, Green, Blue, White, and Red), or an HDMI connector (single flat connector).

You'll get the best picture quality with HDMI, but if your HDTV is old you may have to use component.  Composite signals are never HD.

If the problem turns out to be the cable, do not spend a lot of money for an HDMI cable, you can usually get a cheap one at monoprice.com.

Have you played around with the Display settings and made sure that your system is set to 720p and not just 480p?  And for that matter, can you check on your TV to see what mode it's set to?

Maybe this will help, basically it's the online version of the User Guide that ships with the unit, linked straight to the Settings/Display Settings/Video Output Settings:

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/videooutput.html

You may need to accept their EULA to get there. If you need access to the trouble-shooting guides or just want to start back at the beginning:

http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/PS3/Manuals

Since you didn't specify what model you have and the trouble-shooting guides are model specific.

No, not really. The online 'trouble-shooting' guides are model specific, hence the question.

It also might be worth doing a search for your TV model and "PS3" on the AVS forums to see if anyone's had a similar problem there.  Then you'll be able to know exactly how to resolder the TV's processors to make the the pixel in the 4th row, 576 column bring out a more natural blue. slywink

send it to me and I'll fix it.  Send it with all games and blu ray discs you have.  Wait 2-3 years and I'll get it back to you.

You spent too much on that HDMI cable.  Online, they are around $10 including shipping.
