Baldur's Gate HD? it seems Beamdog is hinting at something, and considering they did an HD update of MDK my guess is an updated version of one of the Baldur's Gate games. oh, and at the very least Baldur's gate 2 is coming to Steam apparently. already got my GOG copy though. [edit] from the source code on the site: <!-- February 28, 2012 --> <!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->
<!-- For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. -->
<!-- And then... it returned. Better than it was before. -->
<!-- Pore over the tapestries and works of art hanging from our walls if you wish, Child of Bhaal... perhaps you will find a clue. But patience, ah... patience would reveal it all. --> 'Better than it was before'.... c'mon HD update!

I can't see Bioware doing a new Baldur's Gate game, if only because they or EA would have to get license rights from WotC again - or would it be Atari? The only way I could seem them doing a new entry in the series is if they used the Dragon Age engine, which I personaly would not like. If anything I think its likely a remake and probably the 1st game as it's in the most need of it.

With the megamod bg1 uses bg2 art assets, combined with widescreen mod, the game looks great even today; since its handdrawn graphics.

here's what Joystiq has on it: Beamdog reps tell us that the team at Overhaul is adding "new, original content" to the original game to make up the Enhanced Edition. "This is the Enhanced Edition, it's not a repackage. We have the original source code and are doing a significant update." He also confirms that no platforms have been announced just yet.

Damnit! I just started a replay on GOG (installed the whole shebang and spent forever figuring out what the best mod experience was). I got several hours into it, now I'll have to start over again again.
One of these days I'll finish this game.

I'm in the same boat. I think I will wait to get this version of BG and start my gog.com version of Panescape Torment instead.

I'm pretty excited for this. I've played through BGII, but never got around to BG1. So this enhanced version will be my first run-through.

I thought BG1 was great fun. Not a lot of complexity with tons of high level spells and abilities, just good story telling and party based adventure. I have a lot of good gaming memories from BG1.

One of the best things would be if they merged BG1, TOSC, BG2 and TOB all into one massive game with upgraded graphics and new areas. Please don't forget widescreen support Can't wait for this...just hope they don't screw it up.

Ericb - you can already get this with widescreen support, the original games, Bg1 and Bg2 in BG2's engine even with the expansions as well. Either through tutu or Baldurs Gate Trilogi.

Yeah, I'm running a tutu install now with all of them. It's not bad but it still could use a lot of work and as many times as I've been through it I would really like some new areas and abilities

Looks like I'll need to do some serious soul searching when it comes to what I keep and what I delete on my iPad 2 32 gig. I'm assuming BG1 and 2 will be a few gigs at least.

the download for the first Baldur's Gate (along with the expansion) off of GOG is 1.7 gig, BG2 Complete is 2.3 gigs, and that's before you install them. depending on how they update things the complete series could easily go over 5 gigs.

I wonder if those changes include using the new D&D rules. Anyway, I somehow skipped the entire Baldur's Gate series in my gaming lifetime, but I did play and love Planescape: Torment. So this is a great opportunity for me to catch up on the originals, without having to deal with too much of the old PC game hassles.

if BG:EE does well, there could be an ID:EE in the cards, with full use of the classes & kits from BG2:ToB. they also approached EA about Ultima, but were told 'no thanks'.
