Wife: "what are you playing, is this Bejeweled?"

Me: "No, it's different."

Wife: "what are those jellyfish things?"

Me: "those are skulls, not jellyfish."

Wife: "How is this different than Bejeweled?"

Me: "well it's a lot different, you're fighting against something."

Wife: "By playing Bejeweled."

Me: "No, but you travel around on quests and gain weapons and magic."

Wife: "Which you use to play Bejeweled."

Me: "But that's secondary - there's a story, and you have a dungeon where you can capture creatures you have beaten."

Wife: "...by playing Bejeweled."

Me: <sigh>

I don't think I disagree with your wife, except about the jellyfish.

This reminds me of the conversation I had with my wife when I first picked up The Sims:

"So, what's the point of this?"
"Oh, you know, you send them to work, and you meet friends.  And buy things for your house.  Oh, and make them use the bathroom."
"...The things you do in real life?  There's no point to it?"
"You have to earn more money to buy the stuff for your house."
"So, it's a capitalism simulation?  Aren't games supposed to be escapist?"
"..."
"Huh."
"You can sell the ladder out of the swimming pool so that they drown."
"..."

This is where you say, "Yeah, pretty much," and it's all over.

she obviously doesn't understand the twisted side of the sims.  let her see the caged animal house, where normal people enter and never leave, or the island of 1,000 graves.

the question about pq is, if she won't play it, but will play bejeweled because pq is too complicated.

Even though I love Puzzle Quest, I have to agree.
