My first CD of FarCry is bad - How can I get a copy?

I need a copy of the first CD of FarCry (the original). I'm legit - I have the CD key and everything, and I have CDs 2-5, but I couldn't get past CD 1 during the installation (keeps stopping at a file called volcano02.bik).

Anyone kind enough to copy CD 1 and send it my way?

sorry, I don't have my CD's anymore.  I imagine in a worse case scenario you could get it off of Direct2Drive or Steam  for 10 bucks (maybe even less on Steam if they have it discounted during their holiday sale) and not have to worry about discs.

Tried copying the CD to your hard drive and burning a new CD?

Yeah, I tried that, the copying stopped at that file too and threw an cannot read error. The CD is bad.

I might have a free/special offer one I downloaded a while back - it was a special offer that includes some advertisement before actual play.  I'll check it out if you're interested.  I'm not sure of any copying restrictions it might have on it.

Are you able to copy the other files off of the disc? If it's just the one file that's bad it should be possible to just email you the file you need. I have the DVD right here next to me.

If you can copy all the other files, you could also try copying and renaming some other BIK file as the missing BIK file since its just a movie file. Not the best way if you want to see the clip but should let the game run.

Tried polishing the disk?
I usually start with a baby wipe, and if that doesn't help, work my way up to car polish.
I'm amazed at how many music CDs I've saved this way (Never had to do it with a game CD, but I imagine the principle is the same).

If nothing else works, you could just do a hail mary and mail the whole set to Ubisoft.

Better yet, I see Amazon has the whole thing for $6.68 with super saver shipping.

Emailing the corrupt file would be the most expedient fix, assuming the disc doesn't have a bunch of bad files.  Or maybe someone who is done with the game can give/loan you their disc 1.  Worst case, FC is on all the major DD stores for $10 or less.
