Since I still have part of my 1 year warranty left I was wondering if I could get Sony to flash my PSP or whatever and get it working again.  I just have no idea about Sony's customer service and I have no idea what kind of evidence bricking leaves.  Can I get my girlfriend to call them up and say it just wouldn't start up one day?  Or will they take one look at it and say 'what the hell, you were trying to downgrade to 1.5!'  I don't play my PSP much anyways but I figure I might as well get it fixed if I still can. (and yes I perfectly realize that trying to downgrade voids your warranty so no moral lectures please smile  I want to know if Sony can tell what I was doing)

If you bought it at Costco, you lucked out.  Otherwise, maybe try to badger the store you bought it from.

To the best of my knowledge, no, Sony can't tell what you were doing with your PSP at the time it was bricked.

Just tell them you were applying one of the (many) patches they've released over the year and it suddenly died on you.
