Ok, despite the maybe not great name (seriously, not even good), I can't help but be super excited about the MotorGun Kickstarter.  "Think Interstate 76 meets World of Tanks and mix in some old Autoduel."

Interstate '76 is one of my all time favorite games, so the fact that they have the creative director of that game and several people that worked on it as well is good news to me.  They also have David Jaffe in some sort of role (Twisted Metal), but honestly that doesn't excite me as much other than his name potentially helping get press.

So far it sounds like they're saying a lot of the right things in the post and updates: real weight behind the cars, lots of customization, scavenging scrap, adding armor and weapons to hard points...   drool

They've also put up some teaser prototype gameplay footage.

Looks sweet! It also looks like an old MMO I had about ten or fifteen years ago, which was something like WoW with cars, but in the same style as this game. Can't remember the name... ah, I remember, it was Auto Assault. Yup, 2006, so not quite that long ago. It died in less than a year.

Auto Assault had the problem of being WoW with cars.  There was no driving mechanic at all really.  It was more like you and your horse were one and looked like a car.  All tab targetting is bad with cars.

Auto Assault had so much potential, and then they released it....

I'd say it had so much potential, then they designed it. That game was a trainwreck long before it came out. It was obvious at the time that there was no clear vision behind the game.

I'm not sure what to make of the kickstarter. I looked at it yesterday, and I can't put my finger on it, but something had my spidey-senses tingling.

Well, it looks like they have cancelled this Kickstarter.

It sounds like they are going to re-work the plans to meet more of what the fans wanted and potentially launch another in a while. Hopefully that means less focus on just multiplayer and more single player stuff like they started adding to the Kickstarter.

damn, that's two Kickstarters in a row that I've pledged to and haven't crossed the finish line.
