pictures from the apparent Clan Blade...and no,i dont now what game they are playing

i have seen these pictures before,a few months ago..thought it would be good for them to resurface

picture in picture DVDs,is very cool....animated and sound from your themes...and 'New option in Games tab - beta and others, will be launcher for MMO and multiplayer betas'...very interesting

some of it the list feels like over kill to me(search the marketplace by letter!!)...but there is some stuff that could be opretty cool, and if this list is true, then it shows the people at MS are really putting their all into these quarterly updates...not forgetting what WAS announced late last week, with the xbox originals and so on

all this hasnt been announced yet,a friend sent it to me this morning...thought you might like to see it

Only thing of interest to me is the Xvid support and making it easier to delete items.

The "more in game advertising opportunities" is not a feature I was asking for.

Microsoft also just released a Vista update for Vista Media Center.  It solved my MCE connection issues. Finally, my 360 can stream media better than my PS3 from my computer.

I've heard a lot of complaints from people saying there's too much content on the marketplace, and that they wished there was some (easier) way of telling when new content was available.  I think it's a good idea, as long as it's not for piddly stuff like gamertag pics.

How would it record live TV since there is no source input on the console?  Can the 360 cables go from blow to suck or something?

Yeah, a big hell no on the xvid (god I wish though) and the iptv stuff. The iptv thing would be HUGE and I doubt they'd roll something like that out with a simple update.

I don't think it's that unlikely - they *are* adding support to their new media center extenders.  And considering Sony is rumored to be addind xvid support to the PS3 soon, it's well within the realm of possibility.

That's no rumor with Sony.  Divx announced it in the last couple of weeks.

Unlike all the fake stuff posted up top, here's an actual feature in the upcoming update:  Friends of friends.

http://live.xbox.com/en-us/accounts/friendsoffriends.aspx

Quote
After the software update to Xbox in early December, you will be able to meet new friends by browsing the Friends lists of other Xbox LIVE members. You can determine who can see your Friends list now on this page – Everyone, Friends Only, or Blocked. You will be able to check your status and change your Friends list setting anytime after the software update in the Account Management section of Marketplace on your Xbox 360 or My Xbox on Xbox.com.

The default setting for who will be able to see your Friends lists depends on your age:

Adults – Everyone

Teens (13-17) – Friends Only

Children (under 13) – Blocked

Friends of friends.

Poll a thousand members of Xbox Live before this was announced and I bet ZERO would have requested a feature to browse the friends of their friends.  How pointless.

It is not, to be sure, the most interesting thing in the update.  Just the only public thing. slywink

It's something that's actually sort of nice in that there's a class of people I don't know well enough to consider "friends", but I'm willing to play games with if they happen to be online.  My friend's buddies back home in Michigan are playing Halo together?  I'd rather play with them than some random teammate I'm matched up with.

Myspace and Facebook wish to disagree smile  Yeah, it's certainly not a top-10 request or anything, but I'd bet it's relatively simple to implement, and will get some use, I'm sure.

Friends of friends could be nice if you got a new live account.  You could add Purge since he maintains the GT list.  Then you could use the friends of Purge to add most everyone else.  It would be even better if you could bulk select the list and send friend invites to all.

Or you could use the GT list and click on their GT names to add them automagically. (as long as you're signed in with a linked passport account on Xbox.com).

I should update that sometime... frown I tried to weed out the deadwood, but I got like 4 names that exceeded the time. That sucks. frown

PS: I need to weed out my friends list. I can't just hold onto everyone in GT, so don't count on my FoF being a complete list... I need to make room for CK's MOM.

and here is the real list of xbox live update details...pfft

Quote
Xbox Originals – With this new service, announced on Nov. 13, consumers can download-to-own full original Xbox games that were previously only available at retail. The digital shelves will always be stocked with classic titles, such as “Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex” “Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge,” “Halo,” “Fable,” “Fuzion Frenzy,” “Psychonauts,” and more as the catalogue grows over time, at 1200 Microsoft Points per game.

Xbox LIVE Arcade Hits – On Xbox LIVE Arcade, the Arcade Hits program kicks off where some of the best selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games will become available at permanently reduced prices, making it easier than ever for everyone to build a library of downloadable games! The first games to become Arcade Hits will be “Bankshot Billiards 2” and “Lumines LIVE,” which will be available for 800 Microsoft Points each, and “Marble Blast Ultra,” “Small Arms” and “Zuma Deluxe,” which will be available for 400 Microsoft Points each. With free trial downloads for every game and over 100 games to choose from, Xbox LIVE Arcade offers something for every member of the family.

Inside Xbox – A new direct feed brings current news straight from Xbox.com into the Xbox LIVE Dashboard providing members an easy, predictable entry point where they can discover what's new in game releases, events, and Xbox LIVE Marketplace offers. (It will also feature brief weekly segments from myself, TriXie, Games Editor Denny Atkin, and SoozyQ.)

Enhanced online profile – Members interested in sharing a few more details about themselves will have the option to go beyond their motto and further personalize their profile with an expanded bio.  The extended bios will be visible to “Friends Only” or the entire Xbox LIVE community.

Expanded Friends List access – A quick and easy way for gamers to expand their personal community on Xbox LIVE, members will be able to see the Friends Lists of other Xbox LIVE members, boosting their social networking experience on the service

Enhanced Parental Controls – Family Timer, a strong and flexible new addition to the Xbox 360 Family Settings, enables parents to set the amount of time their Xbox 360 can be used on a per-day or per-week basis by their children or other members of the household.

New video features – The convenience of full-screen movie previews and enhanced video codec support further expand the options when it comes to the Xbox 360 entertainment experience.

Easy-to-use navigation features – With several noteworthy changes in the Xbox LIVE Dashboard, from the new Game Store button to the Video Store button to enhanced visuals and descriptions in the video library, Xbox LIVE members can find what they want, when they want it.

Let's get the biggest news out of the way for the videophiles: Xbox 360 now supports MPEG-4, which means the box plays both DivX and XviD files without a hitch. 1UP tested almost every variation of the format possible, including high-definition content as high as 1080P. All the files ran flawlessly, though Microsoft told us there's no guarantee all formats will be compatible -- but we imagine most will.
