Do I need to get this game?

How does it compare to TOCA 2 ?  (a game I really like but that didn't get near as much playtime from GG'ers as PGR2.

Yes you need to get it and, yes it's it's kinda like TOCA 2 in the way that it's really good.

What time should we be doing this?

Don`t let that stop you, I`m up LATE!!! Really late sometimes. Way too late sometimes, well...you get the picture;).
In fact I should be on a bit later tonight for a few hours with either forza and/or halo 2. Later.

Just a heads up, I picked up a copy of this yesterday.

I know I have Harpua on my friends list, though he usually shows up around the time I give in and head off to bed. I don't believe I have anybody else, but I've been playing Forza a fair amount. If anybody wants to play shoot me a friend request or a game invite if I'm already on your list. I'll join and you can waste me on the track slywink

OK.   I got the game.

I am going to fire it up a bit tonight so as not to completely suck come Monday.  However, I still predict major suckage, even for me.

This game is fantastic.  I mean.... really, really fantastic.

Devil, you have done it again.  You may play games like total shit, but you are a damned fine game recommender.

One of my favorite things about it is the penalty times for hitting walls, shortcutting into the dirt, etc...  Excellent idea.  What this does is actually help truly elite simulation drivers like me compete against the shortcutters.  (if you didn't pick up the sarcasm there, you have never raced with me before.)

In all seriousness, the game is alot of fun.  I still need ALL the assists on, as I have some trouble controlling the cars without them.  And the racing line is a godsend.  It will help teach me how I am supposed to race, instead of pinning poor Driver, Coop and Vegas into rails all the time, ala PGR2.

I can't wait until Monday! Although I will be playing this weekend for sure to try and at least become somewhat respectable before that.  Feel free to say hey if you see me online.  I am more than open for any pointers and tips from those who would share.

Question though:  When you set up races, the collision choices are something like Ghost, Always, None, and Race Line.  Can someone take the time to explain them to me, other than None, which is obvious.

Thanks!

I finally ran an ethernet line out to the family room, the wireless connection was pretty flaky. I don't know if I'll be able to play Monday night, but if anyone wants to practice beating me over the weekend I should be on quite a bit as the wife is out of town.

Gamertag: coopasonic

I have a bunch of you on my friends list, but anyone I don't feel free to send me an invite.

I won't intentionally run you off the track (I save that for AI drivers), but if you happen to get too close to me when yer lapping me, you're taking the health of your car into your own hands.

See, Ponch, I'm good for my recommendations and for a beating!!

Glad you like it!

The racing line is a savior in the point-to-point mountain races just for the ability to see where the road is going. No co-pilot like in rally games.

I haven't been online yet and probably won't be until Monday, but I'm looking forward to taking the STi out getting whooped up on!

Lockdown:  Once you get used to how the cars handle, you might want to turn off that green arrow thing on the track first -- I noticed that I'd been looking at it more than anything else in the game, and once I shut it off I was a lot more appreciative of the game graphics.  Plus you get a Kudos bon...er, I mean a difficulty bonus at the end of races for having it off.

Forza is great fun.  I'm glad Simon getting it motivated me to pick it up. smile

Thanks Driver.

We missed you last night.  We had some impromptu racing goodness for a few hours.  (Friday night).

There had to be like 6 of us most of the night off and on, and I don't remember everyone's names, but I do know myself, Coop, Loomi, and Thin J (Cabbot) were there for most of the racing.  My ELO rating, whatever the hell that means, is doing a nice steady decline into the depths of the abyss, but I just keep telling myself the game is like golf, and that it's a GOOD thing!

I can quite boldly report that the Live! play was seemless (once I bypassed my router).  No lag, no jumping, no anything that would even remotely hint I was playing over Live!.  The performance was incredibly good, and the racing was alot of fun.  Since it was the first "real" Live many of us did, Coop basically ran through all the tracks and picked random car classes, so we could get the feel of the different options.

Loads of fun!

Dang! I woulda played last night but didn't see anyone on other than pingwrx, and I couldn't join his game.

I played with my bro and a friend, though, and had a fun time. Wondering if anyone else had a problem with seeing their friends online? I added Thin J and have most of you people on my friends list, but didn't see anyone online. Even with my bro online, it wouldn't show that he was online and he has his "show online" switch to show that he's online.

Anyway, we giggled like little girls whenever we spun out. smile Good times.

It was good times!

I believe I did some of the worst racing I've done since I bought the game while I was in there with you guys, but it was fun anyway.

Any game where I have fun regardless of winning or losing is awesome.

That being said, hopefully I can cripple my car slightly less often next time.

I have no idea how to set up a game so Poncho is going to have to take the lead!

The feeling is mutual.  smile

I'm in for next Monday.  It's Memorial Day so I don't know if that changes things for anyone else.  I'm up for sporadic games throughout the week too.  I'm sure to be playing through career mode at some point this week.

If ever there's a Monday night when I'm not playing Ghost Recon 2 with the GWJ bunch, I'll definitely join you guys.

As for Loomi's random games throughout the week, that's about when you're likely to see me on Forza as well. You never know when you might see me online biggrin
