funny, I always pictured him with bigger boobs...
Hey, you leave my moobs out of this!
Put in a couple more hours last night, and it's starting to come together. The biggest thing is to make sure the
first thing you do is switch the combat from Auto to Manual. Makes a huge difference in how enjoyable the game is. And don't worry if you're left utterly baffled by the opening dungeon. The game throws a lot at you right off the bat, much of which is very counterintuitive (Chest-high walls? In my JRPG?) The story starts to come together a bit once you hit the town, and you actually get a few more tutorials in the first "real" dungeon, which explain a lot more about what's going on. Especially around the magic system, which is

until they get around to explaining it 3 hours in. The combat is actually pretty fun, now that I a) have control over my character, and b) somewhat know what I'm doing.
Jury's still out, but I'm starting to warm up to it. The voice acting is fantastic, and the characters all have a real charm and personality (unlike the recent Tales of Graces F, which was so completely cliche that it bored me to tears).
Pro tip: Don't neglect to grind on the red summon circles. It doesn't take terribly long before the XP becomes negligible, but you can crank out a bunch of levels (and a ton of cash) before hitting that point.
