Hopefully these pics will do some justice to the bridge/road I am working on:

The road is almost to the island where there is a fortress on top.  My performance was getting bad again, not sure if it is minecraft or my system.

Shall we pass it on...(I have had it for 2 days now)

Damn, that's some bridge. I think we need one of those glitched super-speed minecarts to traverse it. I might make that my objective when I get ahold of it. Am I next? biggrin

Something in it triggered Google's virus scan - with the file as big as it is now (21MB! Wow!) - I'm not surprised that it's going nuts. Best way to hide it was to do exactly what you did. biggrin

I really wonder if the entire folder is needed to pass along the save game, now that everyone has the folder?  I noticed a lot of the files in that directory had not changed since they were created at world generation time.

I have been toying with the idea of getting a few of these succession games fired up each with their own theme:

1.  Mines of Moria type theme where we all work to build a vast underground kingdom
2.  Mideval Castle theme where we find a good spot and build as authentic of a medieval castle as we can.
3.  Rapture type theme where we build an underwater kingdom.

we could rotate these around and so be working on them while waiting on the next one.    Any interest in this?

Or we could wait until he adds all the stuff into the multiplayer so that we can build this type stuff together.

Passing of the save game is starting to get a bit unwieldy...unless we can find a way to pass around smaller chunks of data it may be easier to wait on a full function MP server.

I am interested in these however.

No, you need to send it all around. The main level.dat file is the level generation data, but you need all the chunk info (all the folders) so it knows the 'condition' of the map. There are ways to upload files to quick web storage places though (Mediafire is one site I see people use on the Minecraft forums all the time) for easier sending.

And two pictures to start it all off as I went off exploring at the new world. The first shot shows a level generation glitch - solid walls with nothing supporting them.

And I now have the 'automagical minecart system' working between the two points. Yes, the cart you ride in is constantly moving around in circles (due to a bug in how the collision detection works). All you have to do to hop on is to stand on the launch button and right click the cart as it gets close. Just don't miss, as it's a long walk. biggrin

Now to make a cobblestone generator. I have...big plans.

Awesome.   Keep em coming!

Isn't that mountain structure I discovered and built the tower on magnificent?     One of the reasons I love this game is that it randomly generates stuff like that.

LOL

I run a different tile set - go here to grab it. It gives the world a bit less tiling IMHO among other things. And it makes cobblestone worth using. Oh, and it turns cooked meat into bacon. And we all know that bacon is the best food you can possibly get. biggrin

The bridge is mostly complete - I've put up glass around the sides as you have done (but haven't gotten it to 2 high in most places like you did), and brought it down to ground level/ended it to connect to the other side. I guess I need to take another shot to show you.

msduncan - yeah, I loved your upper hideout. What a view. And it was perfectly designed just above the cloud level as well.

Let's get some pictures uploaded, shall we? I've been busy these last two days, and hopefully I can show it off well:

The first shot is the Dwarven Temple of the Sun God from a distance from the base. Pretty good sized building, lots of lights, had fun trying to make something look nice instead of just useful.

The second is the main entrance from the other side. Yes, those are two large trees growing inside.

Third is the ceiling from inside, second floor. Needless to say this lets in a lot of light come daylight, and helps it be so visible at night.

Fourth is the floor from the second floor. Repeating image from the top, and lots of giant windows to look out of.

And the final for the moment is the end of the bridge, with the main base in the distance and the secondary one just to the camera's left. Didn't get a chance to put in glass on the sides yet, but I might before I pass this save along.

Just remember - if you're happy 'living' there, and you find it a safe and usable place, it doesn't matter how pretty it looks. For whatever reason though, I love constructing things in Minecraft. Why I play it like a fiend I guess.

And because I can, I've created two hidden hideouts on the map. One holds my cobblestone generator, while both have a bedroom and such in them. Both can be found without digging holes in anything, so don't go trying that. Tongue

I think the second hideyhole needs some paintings or something. Back to the game I guess.

Okay, in theory this should work:

http://www.mediafire.com/?g6w23bi6dwib1x7

That's my zipped up folder. It's getting a tad unwieldy to pass around via e-mail, so I've uploaded it here after seeing a lot of worlds and whatnot sent here via the Minecraft boards. Everybody is welcome to take a look at it (and try to discover my secrets biggrin), but Zarkon, you're up.

EDIT: A few FYI points for those who play after me:

1) We're running low on minerals. We're not close to being out by any means, but I had to use a lot of stock to craft. And since I didn't dive into any mines this time around, all I did was use up supplies.
2) We're out of diamonds, so don't lose that diamond sword (used the two we had to craft a proper defense tool).
3) Chickens now cluck, so don't get shocked when you hear a noise you haven't heard before.

There are a bunch of resources over at my little Base Camp 1 site (with the pier and Marina), and also along the way in chests leading through the mountain.   Feel free to use any of that stuff.   I just needed places to drop it off as I mined and explored.

Not only does it look amazing, but it is amazing. I'm glad it doesn't have some sort of internal clock to show how long you've played, because I know it would be something absurd.

Ok so I got lost for quite some time, and finding my way back kinda ate into my time today to change the map.   Based on my calculations, I can still get in a little work tomorrow after work before I upload.   I had two ideas which are not panning for me fast enough to get to this time on my file time.    One involves trees -- and they grow really slow.   The other involves acquiring a cactus, which got me lost.    So it's been epic fail this time around so far.    I do have an idea for that end of the map style island you too a screen shot of Destructor.          It would require team effort and work -- but I could see us shaping it into a giant battleship.    smile

OK... I'm getting ready to upload this thing.    Trees are extremely slow to work with, so you will not find a lot of differences in the level from when Destructor made changes.

There are some differences close to the sky tower if you explore the mountain top around it.

One more day/night cycle should do it......

Got the save downloaded and played around for a few.  Need to make a lot more glass so I can finish my bridge.  I also did a little exploring and found what looks to be a pretty deep cave system.  I will try and make some sort of marker for it, I dropped down in and put some torches, then a creeper jumped me and blew up, nearly taking me with him...I will leave the cave cleansing to someone else I think...

For markers I usually just make a tall pillar and drop a torch on top of it, they seem to be easy to find.
